I have the auto version of this classic vw golf s mk4 . I have reflex silver which in my opinion is the best colour. I have enjoyed driving my golf from day one. I got it from new in 2002. It has only had a few minor problems since some stupid person rear ended it. Other then that it never had any faults. I would always trust vw safe construction. I know a few people with Golfs and every one of them love their car. The S version i have comes with abs, central locking, air con, stereo, immobiliser. An excellent all rounder. We have been using it as a family car and although their are a few complaints regarding the shortage of space at the back, the car is virtually faultless. The best thing about the Bora, as any other Bora owner will tell you, is the smooth drive. Its like your on a plane. Anyone who has driven a smaller or older car will tell you that once they got into the Bora, it was like they were driving on a velvet carpet - well nearly.
In terms of size and price, the Bora comes in between the VW Golf and the VW Passat and has the best of both worlds - the smoothness of the drive and the stature of the car.

i have a golf 1.6 fsi myself and i really like it. beside doing the best for the environment and saving money, the 1.6 liter is a bit slow on pick up and lags what the r32 or gt or gti would have, sporty looks powerful engine and better luxuries, i.e upgraded stereo better seats alloy wheels etc.
the only fault i have had with my golf is the COIL PACK which is a common fault on mk5 golfs which cost about £40 to £60.
every 2 yr service cost about £150-£200 vw service centre.
every 4 yr service cost £350-£450 which is a major service vw service centre and they didn't even change the brake fluid.
