Advantages Advantages Cool factor, solidity, exclusivity

Disadvantages Disadvantages pricey, long waiting list

I've been without a car for a couple of years now - living in central London means that you don't really need a car. I sold my old MK4 Golf GT TDi 130 a couple of years ago in anticipation of the new MK5 coming out and primised myself that I would not get a new one until the new GTi came out. When it was eventually announced toward the end of last year it received many rave reviews - I toyed with the idea of buying it then. Indeed some online brokers were offerring amazing discounts (nearly 11%) on the vehicle considering it was so new and well received. As it was I delayed ordering until ... more

    Advantages Advantages Space, comfy

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

This car is fantastic. we have had it for now for 3 years. The car has enough space for 5 people to sit comfortably or even with a child seat in the back, two passangers can still be comfy. The boot has a good amount of space too. The front passenger has good space, movable chair to go higher or lower and can move quite far forward or back or can be reclined to a comfortable seating posistion, it's the same for the Driver's side. The Cd Player can have a 6 Cd Changer installed in the boot or have as a single Cd Player, it aslo has a Cassette tape and Radio. The Engine runs quietly and smoothly ... more

Advantages Advantages Excellent road handling, interior- top quality, stands out in the crowd

Disadvantages Disadvantages Higher running costs (petrol), but worth it

Brought my current car, Golf GTI 2.0T last year after previously owning an Audi A3 2.0. It outshines the Audi by miles, even though both are 2 litres, the Golf is a much more punchy and powerful car by miles. I dont rack up too many miles on the clock but it is extremely comfortable to drive and impresses all who sit inside the car. Brought the car as an ex demo with few miles on the clock, although was reasonably expensive, I can justify it with the comfort and class that the car brings. Having a dark interior is much better as it wears better than a lighter shade, which my Audi had ... more

Advantages Advantages Fast, responsive, road handling, comfortable, safe, practical

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lose it in a car park looks

On first driving the Mk5 GTI you are hit by a number of observations. Firstly, it really IS a GTI. It's quick off the mark, turns in sharply and handles like a GTI should. Secondly, it's refined without being too much so....it keeps the racy edge whilst cocooning you in comfort and safety. The interior is functional - as you expect with VW - rather than luxurious with everything close to hand. However, it's the drive that would be owners are most interested in and it certainly doesn't disappoint. Fast acceleration, fantastic brakes and road holding to make most other road users green with envy ... more

5 Stars Quick review of Volkswagen Golf 2.0T GTI 5dr by Andrei23 14/09/2008
Aiding this refinement are advanced new petrol and diesel engines. The new 2.0-litre TDI 110 PS common rail diesel engine emits just 119 g/km of CO2 while returning 62.7 mpg on the combined cycle. Other diesel variants are available with 90 PS, 140 PS and 170 PS outputs linked to a choice of six-speed manual or DSG gearboxes. Many of the petrol engines adopt efficient TSI technology with outputs of 80 PS, 102 PS, 122 PS and 160 PS.
