We recently had need to use the services of a car body repair centre to rectify the kind present left for us on retrieving our car from an overnight car park. A scratch running the length of the passenger side of the car.
As the car has the balance of its 12 year anti corrosion warranty and 3 year paint warranty I chose to telephone my local Volkswagen approved repairer.
I bought the car from them and have used their service department so this was a natural decision for me.
The call was handled very promptly and professionally. I was advised that I would not need an appointment for an estimate and was asked when would suit me best. They took my details and those of my car and gave me directions as the bodyshop is not on the same site as the main showroom.
I was pleased to find the directions were very easy to follow and I was greeted warmly and was expected.(This was nice and a good start). They even greeted me by name as they had seen me parking outside and taken the registration number into account. (again very professional)
The Manager came out and assesed the damage and completed an estimate using my insurance details. I was adviosed of the benefits of dealing with them and was suitably impressed.
Later that afternoon I was telephoned as promised with a booking date three days later with a complimentary loan car ( the same model no less) and advised that an engineer inspection had been arranged during this time.
On arrival at the body centre again I was expected and greeted by name. All of the relevant documentation was ready for me and I was soon being handed the keys to my free courtesy car. This was clean and ready to go. Again I was awaiting the glitch that surely must be due to follow!
The following morning I was called to advise that all of the parts were in stock and the engineer had authorised the repair for me. This meant that the car would be ready as arranged the following afternoon.
The following day I again received a call to confirm arrangements. The car would be ready as agreed and was currently being valeted ready for me to collect.
I arrived 20 minutes early to collect the car and again was greeted in a very courteous manner and taken out to the car to inspect the work before completing the satisfaction note and paying my excess. (As agreed with my insurer).
The repairs were carried out to an extremely high standard. I am very fussy and could not fault the quality in any way. the car had no signs of being repaired and the cleanliness of it was excellent.
Two days later I received a call from the manager to check that I was happy with the standard of repairs and to reinforce the fact that all of my warranty remained intact. (Most unexpected)
Overall I have had an excellent customer experience in a day where it is not the norm. I would recommend them to anyone with or without a Volkswagen group car as they repair any make. (They were restoring an old MG alongside the many Audi's and Volkswagens)
What particularly appealed was the effortlessness as they took care of everything for me and were prepared to spare me the time I wanted, when I wanted it.
Advantages: Good facilities but seriously that is it Disadvantages: Everything else from the servicing to the staff
...that shouldn’t happen on a Volkswagen – and so he asked the dealership to place an order and get back to him. 3 weeks later and no one had got back – not that surprising! But when my Dad phoned up, they told him no order had even been made. Outrageous after 3 weeks. After being blasted by my Dad they did their job right this time…
OVERALL *
Just a measly one star rating then for this dealership. Lots of money has been spent ... ...attention needs to be taken over the staff and efficiency of the servicing. The annual JD Power survey ironically said that the VW dealerships are the worst in Britain. If I say my Dad is taking purchase of a new VW next year you may say I’m a hypocrite, but the car is just so good. However, we will be checking other dealers first…
Thanks for reading and once again MERRY XMAS…

Advantages: large range, polite sales staff Disadvantages: parking is terrible
I recently purchased a Shiney new Beetle with my saved up pocket money, and ventured deep into the depths of the murky swamp land known as the car sales battle field. First Impressions :
In a very hard to find area of Leeds. It looks like it's easy to get to, if you're heading out of the city onto the M621, but coming the other way, its a veritable spaghetti junction. Approaching the dealership (Vantage Volkswagon) you have got Audi on your left, ... ...Audi and VW are competing for space down this little side street, and it is very hard to park your vehicle - Unless you just dump it, and hope that you're not blocking any one in - such as i did. LEAD BY EXAMPLE!!
The Showroom :
Very clean, very spacious, and very light. As you walk in, the display models are situated playfully, to greet you on your approach. No signs of sticky finger marks on the glass of any of the models on display, and all ...

Advantages: good range of cars Disadvantages: after sales care is terrible
I have been buying VW for the last 5 years, the cars have NEVER been the problem. The VW dealer that I have been using/used, has been unsatisfactory on four/five occassions.
I buy nearly new cars so to keep the full service history for the first 2/3 years of the car's history I take them to VW dealers to be serviced and maintained. The service that I have received has been poor on all occassions, the car has not been returned at the negiotated time ... ...my satisfaction, the term fixed price servicing seems not to exist... three different occassions I phoned and was quoted three different prices for the same service.
On receipt of my car back from the last service, I queried the price and they knocked off £40, after tacking the car to another garage for new tyres there was a problem with the brakes that the VW garage should of pointed out...
Overall the after sales care is terrible... the only ...

Advantages: Cars are well built, generally reliable, and have a good image Disadvantages: After sales service is often appalling
My partner has had a Volkswagen Passat for 2 1/2 years. The car's been great - it's done 75000 miles and only had two faults. Trouble is, the local dealers took six months to fix one fault, and failed to fix the other at all after a year of trying! The Petrol flap release siezed soon after we got the car, and the local dealer took 3 months to get a replacement part. One of the steering arm bushes started grinding at around 40000 miles, and the car ... ...could find nothing wrong (as I have a fair bit of mechanical knowledge, we told them exactly what the problem was before they saw the car). The second time, they agreed with my diagnosis, but couldn't get the part for several months. The third time, after the part had arrived, it transpired they'd ordered the wrong one! The car was then taken to an independent specialist who repaired it in half a day, and handed the car back fully valeted (VW usually ...

Advantages: Excellent customer care Disadvantages: No petrol!
I have now purchased 4 Volkswagens in the last five years and have purchased them all from a variety of VW dealerships.
My last car was purchased in October of this year from Massingberd in Harrogate. Prior to visiting this dealership I had visited several other VW dealers in the area (including the one my previous vehicle has been purchased from) and found Massingberd to be far and away the best garage in terms of customer care and service.
When ... ...me or my old car and also the reduced price off my new car was excellent and a much better deal than any other dealership. They also threw a free leather bound map book in.
Dealership:
The dealership is a new building which is light and airy and automatically makes you feel relaxed as soon as you walk in. They always have a receptionist there who ensures that a sales person or service technician helps you as soon as they are available. They have ...

I fist purchased my MK5 VW Polo GTI back in january of last year and i have become so impressed with the car i decided to write this review.
I'll start off with a quick over view of the car.Statistics report that only 3,000 were made. I have not seen this officially reported by VW however. It is reported that 1000 of three colours were made. Red, Black and silver. 500 five door and 500 three door of each colour. So you tend not to see too many around and a lot of people confuse it with the golf GTI
The MK5 ' can also be known as a 6N2,It was only made from 2000 until 2001.
Now for a quick guide to the specification:
Xenon Discharge Headlights with automated washer jets
Red Stitched GTi Steering Wheel
GTi Gearknob
GTi "1" Seats
15mm Lowered Suspension
6CD Changer in the boot
Heated Rear Window/Heater Electric ...
Advantages: Fantastic fuel economy, low CO2 emmissions. Disadvantages: No spare wheel, awkward to adjust front seats.
I've now had my VW Polo Bluemotion 2 5 door for 4 months, have done over 5,000 miles in it and I'm loving it.
The Bluemotion is VW's eco-friendly range, the Polo was the first of their range to be introduced, but the other main vehicles in the range will/have followed.
It is a company car and I had a choice from a limited range of vehicles. I chose this one as it was the most economically one for my circumstances. VW claim it will do a combined 70.6mpg and 88.1mpg Extra Urban. I drive it mainly on the motorway and regularly get 83mpg out of it, and around 550-600 miles on a tank, which is costing me around the £40 to fill up from empty.
Equipment
All Polo BlueMotion models are fitted ? as standard ? with anti-lock braking, front and side airbags, power steering, electric front and rear windows, electrically ...
Advantages: Flexibility - park up anywhere and enjoy the view and open the wine! Disadvantages: City parking, small sink, sits around
I have had my (second) VW T4, high top campervan for 2 1/2 years now, and I love it. It is an outdoor enthusiast's dream accommodation and can be used in all seasons. I have travelled all over the UK & France in mine and my friends and wife's parents have borrowed it and also love it.
You can get VW T4's in their original fixed, low roof state and convert them yourself, as a friend of mine has. I chose to buy one that was already converted, from a small company near the Dartford Tunnel called 'Country Campers'. I went for the high-top version (as opposed to a low roof or bellows roof) because I am tall and for the extra storage space you get at the front and back. A brand new van with a brand new conversion can cost over £30,000. However, I paid £16,000 for a 'T' Reg van with a brand new conversion. You can pick up decent older ...
