This opinion is not just based on my own experiences, but that of a few of my work colleagues as well. I bought a lovely car from Martins and was very pleased with the price and sales people. But don't be blinded by this. Their service department is woeful at every level. Their attention to detail is none exsistant and you must expect to send your car back at least twice to have a simple fault corrected, do not trust them to have completed the work correctly. Check it out yourself afterwards. I would not want to bore you with the massive list of problems I have had with this garage, and was not suprised to hear my colleagues at work complaining of similar treatment. I would recommend that if you are considering a Volkswagen, do go to Martins for the purchase, but choose somewhere else for the services and warranty work.
this is a good start to your opinion on VW dealership -which you have discussed as "Martins of Basingstoke" shame about your collegue's experience. As denoted by the current rating you will need to provide more detail of your visit to VW Martins of Basingstoke and what services etc they offer and what you pad and what you got etc, to get better ratings and thus make the information more useful to a consumer consoidering the VW dealership. Advantages: Nippy for a small engine size, good handling, good build quality, tons of equipment! Disadvantages: Gearbox bearings can wear between 60 and 80k, pedal box recall, bbs alloys corrode easily.
