I have now purchased 4 Volkswagens in the last five years and have purchased them all from a variety of VW dealerships.
My last car was purchased in October of this year from Massingberd in Harrogate. Prior to visiting this dealership I had visited several other VW dealers in the area (including the one my previous vehicle has been purchased from) and found Massingberd to be far and away the best garage in terms of customer care and service.
When did I chose Massingberd?
Price: The price they gave me or my old car and also the reduced price off my new car was excellent and a much better deal than any other dealership. They also threw a free leather bound map book in.
Dealership: The dealership is a new building which is light and airy and automatically makes you feel relaxed as soon as you walk in. They always have a receptionist there who ensures that a sales person or service technician helps you as soon as they are available. They have a nice waiting area with complementary tea and coffee which puts you immediately at ease!
They have a good range of new and second hand cars on the forecourt and are amenable to test drives and talking you through the benefits of VW ownership. They also have a good range of colour charts etc. in the showroom and they did not talk me into buying the car thatthey thought I wanted or needed but they did let me choose my own car!
Customer care: The customer care I received from the sales person was excellent. The sales person appeared genuinely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Volkswagens and presented all the necessary information but without being overly pushy or demanding. He allowed me to go away and think about the offer without harassment.
Once I had 'signed on the dotted line' the dealer kept me informed as to the arrival and delivery date of the vehicle as well as excellent instruction regarding the ever-increasing paperwork when purchasing a new car. the dealer allowed me to collect the car on a date and time that was convenient to me and the sales person even gave up his day off.
Collection: The collection of the car was swift and efficient. The garage were ready for me when I arrived an they had all the relevant paperwork. They also rang me the day before to remind me of the information I needed to take when collecting the (driving licence, insurance etc.) which was helpful. I was given good instructions on how to operate the car and the procedure did not take very long. One minor problem is that the dealership put such a minimal amount of petrol in the car that it was necessary to re fuel after only a few miles! Very frustrating when you have spent £15,000 on a new car!
After sales care: I have yet to have the car serviced, but did received two follow up calls after I had purchased the car to check that everything was in order (one after a few days and one after 2 months).
The garage offers a repair centre and service centre and you even get a booklet containing money off vouchers if you have your vehicle serviced there as well as cash back if a friend or relative you recommend also purchases a vehicle form there (I earned £50- this way which paid for my new car mats!). They also have a parts and accessories service and if the item you require is not in stock they have a fast and efficient ordering service. The car mats I ordered were available within 5 working days.
Overall, I was extremely satisfied with the dealership and service that I received and highly recommend it!
