Admittedly, it’s a lot more expensive than the stuff out of the tap but I don’t think that 33p a litre is a bad price – it’s certainly cheaper than a lot of the other fancy bottled waters available that don’t get offered in multipacks. We all know that we should drink lots of water. After all, the majority of our body is made from the stuff. We loose it all the time and so it has to be replaced if our body is to function as it should. Hence the experts recommend that we should drink at least eight glasses a day of the stuff.
Well, if like me you live in an area where the water out of the tap stinks of chlorine and tastes awful, then drinking eight glasses of water a day is not something that you are going to look forward to. In this situation there are two options, you either invest in a water purifier / filter thingie or you buy the stuff in bottles from the supermarket. Well, I’ve not explored the purifier option yet - partly because I don’t really have room for one in my small kitchen. So, I’ve gone for the other option and I buy my water in bottles – I currently opt of Volvic.
First, lets consider the price. I buy my Volvic in packs of 6 bottles, each one containing a litre and a half. Last time I bought some I paid £2.92 in Tesco which works out at 33p a litre. Admittedly, it’s a lot more expensive than the stuff out of the tap but I don’t think that 33p a litre is a bad price – it’s certainly cheaper than a lot of the other fancy bottled waters available that don’t get offered in multipacks. Volvic is also sold in 0.5 litre bottles but it doesn’t work out nearly as cheap if you buy it this way (although it is easier to transport around).
I like the way that an effort has been made to make the packaging as environmentally friendly as possible. The bottles are made from recyclable and crushable plastic, so you can help do you bit for the environment and they won’t take up too much room in your recycling bin if you crush them down.
As for the water itself, well the water originates in France and is bottled at source. According to the information on the bottle label, Volvic authorised by the French Ministry for Health and is filtered through layers of volcanic rocks in the Auvergne National Park. During this filtering process the water is purified and also absorbs many of the minerals that make up its composition. It is these minerals that apparently give Volvic its taste.
The label gives a typical analysis of these minerals and in case you’re interested, I’ve listed them below:
Well, I’m a biological scientist but still the significance of these values is a mystery to me. I really don’t know how these compare with other bottled waters or if indeed these minerals are in sufficient quantities to impact health but there you go. However, the bottle does say that the water is suitable for a low sodium diet.
As for what the stuff tastes like – well, surprise, surprise, it tastes like water. It’s a lot more pleasant to drink than the stuff that comes out of my taps as it doesn’t smell of chlorine, it’s not cloudy with chalk when you first pour it and it tastes of nothing but water. The stuff in my taps can taste chalky.
Now I’ve heard people say that once water has been chilled, it’s difficult to tell the difference between tap water and bottled water. Well, that might be true but I don’t keep my water in the fridge, I simply swig mine straight from the bottle that sits next to my desk all day. When at home, the bottle follows me round the house. Drinking chilled water just would not be practical in my lifestyle and so I don’t do it. Drinking it the way I do, there is definitely a difference between the two.
Personally, I’d recommend the stuff, although I only have limited experience of other bottled waters and so I’m not in a position to compare it with rival products.
Advantages: Refreshing and good for you Disadvantages: Expensive
...latest “water of choice” is Volvic – so not only am I drinking bottled water, I’m being very unpatriotic and drinking French bottled water! Mind you, as Northumbrian Water is now owned by a French company, whatever way you look at it, I’m drinking French water! **Packaging**
My half litre bottle of Volvic is in a “crushable & recyclable bottle”. The lid is blue but the bottle is clear plastic. These volcanic rocks, which include Basalt and Andesite, naturally purify the water, imparting their precious minerals and giving Volvic its “unique composition” and “delicate taste”.

...**~~WHAT'S SO SPECIAL ABOUT VOLVIC WATER?~~**
All natural mineral water must come from a pollution free source. The water must also be bottled at source and nothing can be done to alter the flavour of the water. This goes for all natual mineral waters and not just Volvic (However, spring water has different regulations). Volvic water comes from the Auvergne National Park in France. You might have seen the advert for Volvic where it explains that ... ...add the minerals. Volvic is the 2nd most popular bottled water in the UK. Evian is Britain's favourite bottled water. Evian water comes from the French Alps and orginally comes from glacier waters. So, you can see why the individual waters as supposed to taste different!

...can say; slightly warm and Volvic loses all its refreshing properties.
Overall? I only ever used to drink water in cordial drinks but I think that’s about to change. I enjoy the fresh taste of ‘Volvic’ enough to drive me to buy it. Additional information: I have noticed Volvic mineral water in two sized bottles: 500ml and 1.5l. The 500ml bottle retails at about 59p and the 1.5l at about 99p. I have also been informed that Volvic ...

...followed by companies like Evian, Volvic and Vittel, took off and is now a massive market in the UK. This is my review of one of those brands - Volvic.
The Company
-----------
Volvic are based in Volvic (where else!?) in France. All of their water is bottled at source at the Clairvic spring. This region is highly volcanic and the idea is that the water drains through the hills picking up nutritional minerals en-route whilst filtering out any impurities. ... ...The Packaging
-------------
Volvic comes in a highly distinctive bottle. It is transparent and almost like a square tube in shape with ridges all the way up. These allow the bottle to be squashed once consumed and also the bottle is recyclable so thumbs up in the environmentally aware sense! In terms of labelling, this is quite small (about and inch and a half in length) and is draped around the top of the botte. There are pictures of green hills ...

Advantages: No sugar, handy bottle size Disadvantages: some additives
Having read other reviews I was shocked to realise that Volvic Touch of Fruit had sugar in it. Not any more you can get a sugar free version, that is not a 'no added sugar', but SUGAR FREE.
I bought the strawberry one today as I like to have water on a long drive. Have to say it was lush, really refreshing, very strong taste of strawberry and reasonable price (in my opinion), 90p from a Jet garage.
It is basically stillwater with a few added ingredients:
Volvicnaturalmineralwater, 99.5% (pretty much all water then)
Citric Acid
Strawberry natural flavour
Pottassium benzoate (preservative)
Sucralose (sweetener)
acesulfame k (no idea)
It comes in 50cl, bottles which are dead handy for the drink holder in the side of my car.
Nice fresh label showing water, hills and a strawberry, with a lovely bit of kitsch ...
If like myself in these hot summer months (Written in hope as today?s a tad cloudy) you find it hard to drink the right amount of water, then this new idea might just be the thing to help! Let?s face water is pretty taste less and boring, fizzy drinks don?t quench thirst and juices are sometimes to acidic, so flavored water is a genies idea!
Volvic touch of fruit still drink made with naturalmineralwater and a hit of fruity flavor!
Available in many different flavors including Lemon & Lime, Orange & Peach and Strawberry.
I first tried the Lemon and Lime flavor; it was tasty and refreshing I drank 1.5l in one hour! It was so nice! Next I tried the Orange and Peach flavor, again I was addicted and drank it really fast!! I am yet to try the Strawberry flavor!

Advantages: no fat, contains water Disadvantages: tastes artificial, contains unneccessary amount of sugar
, but I did recently venture into trying out Volvic's Touch of Fruit.
Volvic's Touch of Fruit is a stillnaturalmineralwater drink; at least 92 per cent of it is. I have just tried the strawberry flavour and discovered that the other eight per cent is made up of 5.4 per cent sugar, acid, citric acid, strawberry natural flavour, flavour, preservative and pottassium benzoate. According to diet-blog.com Volvic's Touch of Fruit - contains 55 grams of sugar per litre which is around 11 teaspoons. They are advertised as containing no artificial flavouring and no colours but they still aren't that healthy. There are four flavours in the range, the others are: lemon and lime, new exotic fruit and orange and peach.
Touch of Fruit has two bottle sizes; 1.5 litre and 50cl which also come in four packs and have brightly colured lids according to ...
