Volvo V70 D5 - Very well built, spacious, safe, packed with toys.
Advantages: Build quality, safety features, Comfort, Spacious, Rapid fold-down seats, luxury at good price Disadvantages: Manourverability, large turning circle
...beyond.
Needless to say being Volvo there is plenty of safety features, with traction control, ABS, side impact protection, and passenger air curtains plus more.
With the V70 you will get a high specification car, with the same features usually costing much more on equivalents such as the BMW 5 series tourer, and with the benefit it is more spacious and versatile and no disadvantages.
If you want a large versatile car, large enough for the whole ... ...run or weekend trip to the tip, plus feel like luxury during the weekly commute to work then the V70 is the one for you.
In my oppinion it should be in the category of luxury cars, and indeed would be if it had a BMW badge on the front. ...

And it's not even bad to look at!
Advantages: spacious, powerfull and comfortable yet still 'without a badge' Disadvantages: Becomin accustom to living in it.
...The Drive The Volvo V70 is a quite literally a thrill to drive. The driving position is commnanding as you are elevated significantly from the hustle and bustle around you on a slightly bucketed seat with thermal 'bottom warmer pads' inset in the lining. Whilst a manual is favoured by drivers for the control over the power you can exert, the joy of this automatic is that there is so much power to fall back on which is effectively and instantaneously ... ...car really drives itself. The cruise control option i have found an effective and admitedly relaxing driving innovation which is so well employed in the Volvo. The dials are simplisitc and stylish with a geneorous yet unobtrusive spread across the dashboard. The braking system is extremely responsive and the A.B.S. translates the most agressive of emergency stops into a safe and steady deaceleration.
The Car
It really is worth upgrading your spec ...

From the trails and into the trees
Advantages: Comfortable for cross-country drives, without downside on hp output when negotiating off-roads Disadvantages: Low ground clearance limits car performance
...V70, I'd stick it out with my car. It is "the" family car. With plenty of cabin space, and the safety features that Volvo is known for, I say the V70 is a nice attempt at combining the functionality of an off-road vehicle and the luxury of a city car. ...

Fantastic load lugger
Advantages: Space, comfortable driving position and fuel economy Disadvantages: Wide turning circle
Our second V70 (03/2003 2.4 D5 SE) is not likely to be our last. Volvo's reliability and good after sales service befits the premium brand. The car is supremely comfortable, bags of space and we're never stuck for room lugging golf clubs, dog, baby stuff, etc. Performance is good on the diesel - a definite improvement from the old one (was a 2000 V 2.5 D which was an old Audi A6 engine in fact); much quieter and very gutsy. Best performance is overtaking ... ...economy a bit, but averaging 35-40 mpg and it's a combination of motorway/A road driving.
The one detraction is the turning circle is worse than on the old model but this is only a nuisance really in tight car parks.
Servicing is £300-ish but no probs yet with the car, as you would expect from such a workhorse.
Despite us piling on the miles the interior still appears brand new. New 2 level heated seats are an improvement too on the old model. ...

Awesome!
Advantages: Performance, Comfort ,Value for Money Disadvantages: Insurance a bit pricey
...as you would expect from Volvo ,excellent.
The car is very spacious inside seating 5 adults with ease. Comfort is assured and seats are even better than in my old V70R,great support when pressing on. Ergonomics are brilliant and the looks of the inside of car are very cool.
The handling of this car is well, awesome! Adaptive chassis is stunning. Comfort mode is comfortable but very good road holding, Sport mode is firmer but still smooth. Advanced ... ...Fuel consumption is very good for the size and power of car. Worst seen is 22mpg which include a lot of town driving. Mixed A roads and motorway average well over 25mpg even when pressing on a bit.
This is my sixth volvo and it is the best yet. ...
