So, everybody likes the Volvo 850 range. But which is the best, which is the ultimate, which is the fastest, the sportiest, the most quality of all 850 models? Well, it has to be the T5R

We have had our T5R for a couple of years, and we paid around 16K for it. It was second-hand but with very low mileage, excellant condition and in the Primula yellow we wanted. As it stands with its 17 inch alloys and extra low profile tyres, the semi-tinted glass against the yellow paintwork... ...it looks very smart.
Get in, and the leather seats are very comfortable. The driving position is excellant with full seat movement at a touch of a button. Then the engine starts...
It is quiet, very quiet and the usual Volvo whirr can be heard. So, its a volvo with alloys. Not quite...
Infact it is also very fast. It can beat a Porsche 911, and the car is an estate! It drives superb and very fast. The report saying that the T5R is the volvo for hooligans, is totally right. You can enjoy racing the XR2's, XR3's and the Ford Escort Rs Turbo's. But ofcourse it can beat them all. The amount of power is quite obvious when trying for a 0-60mph time. The low profile rubber (new tyres at the moment) lose grip in second all the way up to 40-50mph. The car can get wheelspin at 70mph in third, and in fifth down the motorway it cruises along happily.
Basically I would say that this must be the ultimate Volvo. Volvo's are not just for old men...

The Garrett T5 Turbocharger, the R stands for Racing...etc

An edit for NEALXS
-------------------

Mpg is usually about 25, but it is drove enthusiastically. It has been able to return 45 miles for a gallon of petrol, but that was on the motorway at 60mph. A tip to keep the miles as high as possible for each gallon, is not to use the Air Conditioning, or Cruise Control, both seem to use more fuel.
We paid about 16k for ours, but it is in very good condition and it was just what we wanted. There were only 200 made in Primula yellow, so we couldn't expect to pay much less. You can pick them up from about 6k for a standard 850, maybe even less. Beware of high mileage cars though Neal.

PS, Neal can you rate my opinion higher because of the extra info given?!!
