I have owned my 850 TDI CD for three years. It has covered 130000 miles in 7 years and NEVER uses any oil between services. It is superb to drive and comes into its own on long journeys. Very little noise inside, you would not know that you are in a diesel car. It regularly achieves 40+ mpg on journeys and about 36 mpg around town. This is on a par with cars half the size. I quite often have to carry hay bales in the back and it just swallows them up.I am going to keep it until it falls apart. My last Volvo ( a 360 GLT ) kept going until it fell apart after some 20 years.

I would love a diesel car if only so that i can fill up with petrol and then forget about it for weeks - my car drinks petrol like an alcoholic at a bar......
Advantages: You can burn off a Porsche 911, or load it up for a summer camping trip, either way a very useable car! Disadvantages: Some problems on some models are possible, eg Turbocharger can suffer from severe driving.

Advantages: Reliable, cheap on fuel and great fun with the carrying capacity of a removal van! Disadvantages: None, except perhaps getting a little old in the tooth!
