On the 30th of October this year i was driving the company Volvo from Rhyl suncentre to Plasmaddoc for an important corporate meeting with the owners of Don Patre's ice cream vans (the largest ice cream van conglomerate in north Wales). Unfortunately i was travelling West across north Wales and hence was on some pretty hairy country 'A' roads. As you will all no doubt know, at night these roads can be a little tricky and despite the mild autum this year it had been raining on that dark Monday night and driving conditions were treachorous to say the least. I was travelling along one particularly windy single lane road (the name of which eludes me now) and around one of the many tight hairpin bends i came face to face with any drivers worst nightmare, a 500lb Fresian Bull!. As you can imagine the look of fear in my eyes could only be likened to the mirror images the bull had in his own pupils. It all came down to this...bovine Vs. machine, the volvo vs. the bull, who would win out when the immovable object met the irresistable force? i was doing around 30 mph my 1900cc deisel engine was chugging along economically as always, but the bull had other ideas, this was his road and i was treading on his turf he let me know about it in no uncertain terms. My right foot shot to the brake pedal but the bull gave me no chance to slow down, he dropped a shoulder and leant into my oncoming Swedish car with all the might he could muster. Unfortunately the ageing Warhorse bulll, cast out from his pack in a battle with an up and coming young rival bull, had nothing left to give the world. HIs battle with the younger male had taken more out of him than he realised, perhaps as he walked away from his herd he knew it was to find the end he had seeked for so long...perhaps. The volvo proved to be resilient and reliable, despite the prang that cost the dear bull his life the car still runs smoothly and the state of the art crumple zone did its job without ruining the engine. Volvo has buitl up a reputation for safety and this has been upheld by this car. Looks good in silver or black, if doors stop working you can easily fit an average size family in through the windows.
