I have always wanted a Volvo since I was about 13 years old. I am not 29 and have had my Volvo S70 for about 1 1/2 years. I love her. She has great power and comfort. I have taken her from MA to MD about once every month since I got her. I bought her used for a great price and miles on her was great too. On the Volvo Lot she was about $11,000 more then what I paid and the one on the lot had the same amount of miles and features.
I have found that going to the Volvo lot for maintance can be a pain, only because they charge so much for things that my nieghborhood machanic can do and some I can do myself. I only take her ther when I have an issue that I know they can deal with. Then I order parts online for her at a lower price.
I love her no matter what happens. I think I love my S70 more now then ever. Do to Volvo changing the look of the cars now. They stopped making my model in I believe 2001. So I you want it, it's most likely going to be used. I know The S70 will out last any other out there. If somebody whats too get a Volvo that's a great thing. It's stylish and great for the family. Just be ready to keep up with the price of maintaining it.
Advantages: Good looking, comfortable front seats Disadvantages: Bad build quality, too mnay recurrent faults, D5 engine not as good as reputation suggest
...I originally posted this review under the Volvo V702.5D by mistake. I have updated the report too.
The car is a 2004 (2005 MY) Volvo V70D5S. The D5 is a 2.4 litre "common rail" diesel and the S spec has cloth seats, climate control, fuel computer, and a single CD / FM Radio (which at least has LW for the cricket). Mine has a very light interior (they call it Oak) and the dashboard causes a lot of stray reflections on the windscreen - not good for night driving.
The V70 is a nice looking car but it does not have the robust build and quality of finish that have been associated with Volvo in the past. It is also not the supreme load carrier that Volvos once were - you get a much bigger load space with a Mondeo.
My V70 has proved to be a very disappointing car with numerous days (24 in 6 months) spent off of the road and too many...

Advantages: Most Practical open Top Car. Very Clever Design. Well Built. Disadvantages: A Few Cheap Astra Parts. English Weather!
...and left a more than lasting impression. Due to their brilliantly clever design, I honestly feel that you could use an Astra Twintop as a practical every day car. With most convertibles that I have driven, I have always thought that I would also need a "proper" salon car in the garage as well. With these Astras that would not necessarily be the case.
I would have no hesitation in choosing the 1.9 CDTi Design model and would indeed be more than happy to put it to our ultimate test - top up though - driving in a day to Poland.
