I haven't really got a bad word to say about Volvo in general let alone the V40.
Having worked for Volvo safety has always been there first and main issue, and they are well know for it.
If I was in an accident there is no car I would rather be in than a Volvo, it doesn't matter what model. You cannot disagree on the safety of a Volvo with their SIPS (Side Inpact Protection System) as one of the many standard features.
Being a female feeling safe in your car is so important especially when your driving on your own.
The V in V40 stands for Versitility, Volvo's have come a long way from their old boxy look, the V40 being the estate looks bigger than the Saloon version but it isn't they are the same size which isn't a bad thing.
The Volvo V40 1.8 is a good economical car with all the safety of a padded cell.
It's sleek with sexy curves and is a pleasure to drive, as with all Volvo's they handle the road very well being a very solid car it sticks like glue to the bends.
It's a bit difficult to comment on the gadgets etc as it depends on what specification you have, if you have a basic model (cost starting from £12000) which will only include the bare minimum i.e cloth interior, no radio control on steering column things like that then you are restricted, but if you had a top of the range you could have things like Satnav (Satalite navigation) Climate control, geartronic (touch gear change), well electric everything more or less.
The only drawback is it's a shame they're so expensive!

I have to strongly agree with Larry, in order to get a higher rating you need to include more personal experiences with the car as well as some more technical data. Also are there any bits of the car that you think are especially well designed etc... If you do add any more leave me a message and I will update my rating for you.
