I can't admit to owning a Rolls, but I have owned a 7 series BMW and a Jaguar and I have to say that the Volvo V70 T5 beats them both hands down. (maybe not in sheer speed, but taking everything into consideration it is by far the best)
Well that's my opinion.
Practicality, safety and performance are the three things the V70 T5 does well. 90% of the British traffic police can't be wrong.
It's not the most economical car in the world, but I like the fact that if you want to save fuel you can just drive it carefully. A lot of high performance cars are gas guzzlers how-EVER you drive them. With the V70 T5 the power is hiding until you hit around RPM then it's like you've been kicked in the back.
I've owned 4 & 5 litre cars in the past and I can honestly say the V70 drives like one of those. It's only a 2.3litre engine but when you start it, it sounds like something much bigger. It pulls away so smoothly and the auto box changes gear almost imperceptibly. Mine isn't the Geartronic type of box, but I can't fault it in any way.
I've not long had the V70 and it just coming up to 5 years old and the interior looks like new. I've read reviews that say the interior is hard wearing. Well they are right. My V70 might be a very good example, but even so you'd expect SOME marks or damage.
A lot of things I buy never live up to my expectations but my Volvo does and it surpasses them easily. The Swedish don't leave anything to chance and the Volvo is full of nice little touches.
With the aluminium bonnet and tailgate and galvanized body panels I'm hoping to be rust free for many years. My V70 is only 59,000 miles so the engine has many years life left too.
My only niggle is the turning circle. According to the specs it's the same as my old Laguna, but it certainly doesn't feel like it when turning round in the street or negotiating tight corners in car parks
Storage space is great. They have little places everywhere to keep things. My favorite in the leather pouches in front of the seats. They are great for dropping things in quickly when you are driving. Change from the drive through no longer rolls about on the floor.
Another niggle (Just thought of this one) is the spare wheel. Why they don't supply a full size wheel is a mystery to me. If I get a flat in the middle of the night on a long journey, I can't just change the wheel and carry on, I have to crawl along at 50 MPH to the nearest all night tyre place (of which there are none). I guess it's the same for many cars now so i can't single out Volvo for that.
Anyway, Do I regret buying the Volvo? ......... NO!!
Would I recommend it to other people? ........ YES!!
Would I buy another? ............. YES!!
Do I wish I'd bought one sooner? .......... YES!!
Do you want to buy MY one?..... Tough, it's not for sale !!!!
Advantages: Comfortable for cross-country drives, without downside on hp output when negotiating off-roads Disadvantages: Low ground clearance limits car performance
...V70, I'd stick it out with my car. It is "the" family car. With plenty of cabin space, and the safety features that Volvo is known for, I say the V70 is a nice attempt at combining the functionality of an off-road vehicle and the luxury of a city car. ...

...car in my garage.
Volvo are known for the hgh standards in safety, especially side impact. The security is also a high standard. The car comes with every security measure known, double dead locks, Immobiliser. It really has it all.
This is a true motor, its not a car, its motor which has everything about it. You don't go out looking for a crash of course, but for me I felt a lot safer driving this car than some I have drove.
Its not possible to ... ...I don't own one, yet, they kept in touch and sent me magazines featuring the latest news inside the Volvo manufacturer. I see this all as the lottery and a bonus. If you have the money and you're o.k bout opening your heavy wallet then go for it. ...

...of owning and running a Volvo and to-date I've been delighted with my decision. The Volvo T5 manages to combine sports performance, family practicality and excellant safety features in one fantastically valued package. The handling and performance are superb making both long motorway or short school run journeys effortless and a real pleasure. The load space is tremendous, this has meant that as a family of five (including baby) we have never been ... ...The chaps at my local dealership where I have the car serviced are excellent and although a little expensive I always manage to receive a complementary curtoursey car for the day and my car returns valeted. So far my T5 and I have enjoyed 90,000 trouble free miles together and as you have gathered from my praise the expereince has been extremly enjoyable, so much so I have my second T5 on order. Oh and you may be wondering about the beast, well expereincing ...

...(a known problem with several Volvo models) was replaced, fortunately under warranty. The old throttle was giving jerky starts from stationary, but later the car cut out when driving round a car park. Automatics shouldn't stall! My new module is about 8,000 miles old and might be having a few problems again.
2. The car won't start when there's less than about 40 miles worth of fuel left. I haven't had it cut out, the problem appears when it's been ...

...was amazed at what a volvo was like, all the interior had been thought out and therewasa vast spacious feel about the car. I went onto my local motorway and flawed it. You could just feel the engine screaming. 0-60 came in no time and it went to a top speed of 166mph. The car on the outside looks quite boxy but all you have to do is step inside it and you realise you have a very good reliable and safety car which just so happens to be a supercar. ...

...+ in profit at the moment and going up every mile.
Can I tell the difference between running on gas and petrol? Yes. The car runs smoother on gas. Can I tell the difference in performance? No. Well yes actually. It accelerates better from low revs on petrol and better on gas at high revs. This I am reliably informed comes from the fact that I now have an extra 10 bhp (250 now) But I have less torque. As my car is an automatic, when you start running out of the torque stuff, it just changes down and away you go. [My information comes from the kit retailers who have converted the Humberside Police VolvoV70T5s to gas and they did some rolling road tests.]
So do I recommend YOU converting your car? NO. Not until you have done your sums.
The vehicle needs to have a large not very economical engine. Forget doing a V.W. Polo 1.0. You will...

...Almost four years ago I bought a Volvo 850 T5 Auto CD Estate. The new V70 had just come out - a rebadging exercise - so I got a secondhand car price for a car with 50 miles on the clock. The car is a dream to drive, it handles like a sports car, is a comfortable as a limo, can carry more than most vans, and is as safe as a Volvo. To date I have 90,000 miles on the clock, and, although not a speed freak, have tested its acceleration and top speed in Europe, and not been dissappointed. It has had to have the aircon topped up, and the electronic key fob has been tempramental about five times(the extra one I bought is different in design and doesn't have the same foibles). The service by Lancaster Volvo was faultless, but the Volvo dealer in Burnley was poor and returned the car without the turbo connected - so much for their road test! all...

Advantages: Economical, comfortable and spacious Disadvantages: Old Volvo brick type design
...I owned 2 new volvo 460 TD's from 1995 - 1997. I was in Germany at the time so was looking for an economical and reasonable speced car. For a cheap and affordable price I had a car that was everything that I had hoped for and above all was safe for my family to travel in. I have since gone back to Volvo and have recently purchased a V70T5, once smitten they say. Unfortunately they stopped making this car in 1997 when it was replaced by the S40 which I believe to be a much more inferior and more expensive car. It appears to have shrunk although is slightly better to look at. Fortunately you can still pick up a good bargain of a used Volvo 460. I strongly recommend the 1.9 TD and any of the special editions as these were very highly speced....
