When you turn it on it plays a little tune and the lights around the top of the toy flash. It has two different settings, one which tells you what the picture on each button is when pressed (i.e., ball, milk or grandma, to name but a few) and the other which plays a tune or makes a noise depending on which button you press. There are 7 different tunes and three different sound effects built in. There are also three large buttons, one for Mummy, one for Daddy and one for Baby.
The thing that I really like about this toy is that you can record a personal message for your baby by pressing a record button on the back of it and speaking into a built in microphone. This message is played when you press the large baby button in the middle of the toy. I think that this is ideal when one or both parents work because your child then has a recording of your voice which can by played at any time for comfort and reassurance.
My husband went back to work recently after being unemployed since Matthew was born on the 21st June. This function of the toy has really helped me since Niall went back to work because Matthew was very distressed every time I left the room. It seemed as though he thought his Daddy was gone and I was leaving him too so it was difficult to go to the bathroom or anything. Niall recorded a message for Matthew on the machine so now his Daddy is here at the touch of a button and Matthew is a much happier bunny.
It is a brilliant toy that retails at about £20.00 depending on where you buy it. I do strongly recommend this toy, along with many others from the V-Tech range. We have four V-Tech toys and I could not say that any of them were not worth the money we paid for them.
