My Kettle

Advantages: Cool old bike
Disadvantages: Looks really dated

I have had a Kawasaki GT750 Kettle for 12 years now, all of them have been trouble free motoring. It handles suprbly, and is as responsive as a stick. It's not greedy on fuel either, using around 60MPG. It is a 4 stroke bike making it better than the coventional 2 stroke. They were made for many years and come in blue, red, black, gold, silver or yellow. The reason I chose this bike ad not ay other, was because this one stood out as being a powerful ...
...5 minutes! It is a very powerful 750cc bike, and being Japanese it is easy to get parts for. I've only ever replaced tyres, 1 ignition and both exhausts in 12 years!! This is due to excellent build quality. I have really enjoyed this bike as I feel I can overtake most modern bikes. Shows them! ...

True Harley clone

Advantages: Chrome to die for!Reliability
Disadvantages: fortune spent on chrome cleaner

I owned a vn8oo A1 for 4 years, and must say i loved every minute! The Harley looks first attracted me to the machine, and the very reasonable price clinched the deal! The 805cc chromed engine was very reliable, apart from one occasion when a sticking float needle in the carb caused a temporary stoppage, other than that, completely faultless.Handling was quite good, but the extended rake of the forks had to be treated with respect.Front brake was excellent, but ...
...of tlc,but thats what a good cruiser is all about!A good set of aftermarket pipes is well worth investing in to bring out the true v-twin sound, but be prepared to spend a long time getting the fuel mix right! All together the vn800 is well worth the money, has great customising ability, and is the ideal first step to the ultimate goal,a genuine Harley-Davidson! ...

2000 Nomad FI

Advantages: Very Reliable
Disadvantages: could use more power

I am not going to get into the spec details of this bike as you can get that online from the manufacturer. What I will tell you is what it's like to own and operate this machine. I bought it new in 2000. I loved the look as it is a copy of my favorite Harley ( Road King) but not nearly the price and much more up to date mechanically. The bike starts quickly and easily. Unlike the Harley though you need to manually choke it in cool weather, simple ...
...completely when the engine is warm enough to idle without it. The bike has an almost silent exhaust. I prefer louder pipes so I tried punching out the stock baffles but although it was alittle louder the sound was not to my liking. I installed a set of Vance and Hines pipes and love them. The also are a complete system from the heads back so you also rid yourself of the goat belly converter giving you some extra power. The bike handles like a dream ...

My Bag Of Bolts

Advantages: Very easy to pick up at little cost
Disadvantages: Some spares can be expensive

...the price and ability the Kawasaki GT750 was a bargain. Almost anywhere these days you can pick up any GT Kwakka for between £250.00 to £1000.00 depending on it's age and condition. I was pretty lucky as I got the 750 model 1987 on an E plate still with mot for £200.00, and what made it better was that it had a GPZ engine fitted. Although the engines are very similar, the GPZ is a bit more powerful, hence quicker. Power wise the machine is great, ...
...modern bikes, but then that's my preference, I've never really liked dropped bars. The biggest drawback with this one though is due to the shaft drive system which I find makes gear change a bit lumpy and tends to drag on corners. Not having tried a standard chain driven one, I can't really compare it. As far as design goes it is fairly basic and old looking, though in it's own category is one of the better machines for looks, and admirably for ...
