I am glad to see such a reliable brand name as Western Digital finally producing a USB Powered external hard drive - Thats right these drives require no power adapter they are powered directly through the USB cable (imagine them as very large USB memory sticks)

As always this drive has an extremely compact design - Weighing in at only a few ounces (exactly 0.34 Pounds), these tiny drives can fit easily into a pocket or laptop case. ...

All Western Digital drives are designed to protect data and for this reason all of their products are put through a rigorous battery of tests before they are ready for market. For this reason I have always entrusted my files and documents to a Western Digital drive of some description.

As always this drive has an extremely compact design - Weighing in at only a few ounces (exactly 0.34 Pounds), these tiny drives can fit easily into a pocket or laptop case. With a transfer speed of about 480 Mbits/s (Max) these little drives are also quite quick on the uptake of data files.

All Western Digital drives are designed to protect data and for this reason all of their products are put through a rigorous battery of tests before they are ready for market. For this reason I have always entrusted my files and documents to a Western Digital drive of some description.

Downsides are the obvious - heavy use of this drive means that a laptop battery will be drained a lot quicker than usual unless it itself is connected to a power source. However, this can be useful when on the move or (as I found out - during a power outage at home). Also, as much as I love Western Digital drives there are some times when they take a lot longer to load files than usual - and computers (certainly laptops) are often susceptible to problems when they are disconnected from these drives unexpectedly.

All in all, as far as I am concerned Western Digital should always be trusted and as for these drives in particular - for about £50 you are getting a portable cyber-space of 160GB (equivalent to the volume of memory which most whole laptops have). Certainly a good buy from a good manufacturer.
