The only thing potential buyers need to think about when considering this device is how much space they need for their files. 160 GB is one of the smallest sizes I could find for external hard drives, but it is about the same size as my laptop's internal hard drive - in other words, it stores a lot of data! ...to do so by CD or USB stick. But it's a definite for people who want to transfer and back up there many files easily, securely and promptly, without having the downside of dragging a huge bulky hard drive around when you want to take your files with you elsewhere.

I was actually bought this as a present, so I had to a bit of research on the prices after I received it, and I must say I am very impressed by the value for money you get with this product!

It's perfect if you want to store those extra photos, videos or files that are taking up precious disk space on your computer, or even if you just want to back up precious files.

It's very easy to install and comes with a helpful user manual for first timers. It takes little to no time to transfer data to and from the device (although this will obviously vary depending on what size file you are tranferring) and the design is next to none in my opinion - tranportable in both dimensions and weight (approx. 12.7 x 7.9 x 1.5 cm and 105g). The only downside to buying it in white, however, is that scratches and blemishes will be more visible - but there is no reason for this device to get damaged if given the right treatment.

Adding to the portability is the fact that no external power cable is needed to charge the little thing - it runs itself through the power of the computer via the usb cable. All of these features combined make it perfect for taking files with you where ever you go - on holiday abroad, to work, to a friend's house. To me, it is to a regular bulky hard drive what a laptop or notebook is to a desktop computer.

So far it has been very reliable - I have had it for about half a year and it has not crashed my computer or shut itself down. The friend who bought it for me has had one for much longer and still says the same. He is very content, since his previous two hard drives from a different company stopped working after half a month, meaning he lost a rather large amount of important files. Needless to say, I don't think that will be a problem with the WD Passport Portable.
