Trying to read & rate more, but the fibro still gets in the way. I write when I can and read/rate when I am able. This means sometimes I throw lots on all at once, and then go quiet for days or weeks at a time.

WKD is one of my favourite of the many alcopops available these days. Or rather I should say WKD Original (the orange coloured one) is. Its sister drink WKD blueberry (the blue one) is probably one of my least favourite alcopops.
WKD Original has a flavour very similar to that of Irn Bru although this drink is not made by Barr and doesn’t claim to be Irn Bru flavoured – in fact it doesn’t claim any particular flavour! Trying to describe the flavour of this (or Irn Bru come to that) is pretty hard, but I guess my best description would be to say that it has a tangy slightly fruity, slightly metalicy, slightly alcoholicy flavour with hints of spiciness to it. It’s slightly sweet, but not overly so, and its quite a refreshing taste. It’s not a natural flavour and that’s one of the things which makes it so hard to describe. If you’ve ever drunk Irn Bru then you’ll understand the flavour I’m trying to describe, if you haven’t then ummmm well you’ll either have to make do with my poor description of it, or you’ll just have to go grab yourself a bottle of this, or a can/bottle of Irn Bru (or Vodka red square Irn-Bru – which really is Alcoholic Irn Bru and is made by Barr) Then you’ll know what I mean and will understand my description I hope :-)
WKD Blueberry has a very different taste indeed. It doesn’t taste particularly of blueberries to me, but more like bubblegum. (In particular hubba bubba bubble gum which I remember from being a kid, but don’t think is around any more.) The flavour is much sweeter and more cloying than the original, and leaves my mouth and tongue feeling slightly coated despite being a cool blue colour (which always makes me think it should be far more refreshing and lighter), this drink doesn’t inspire me, and I don’t enjoy drinking it.
WKD is sold in clear 275ml Glass bottles so you can see the coloured liquid inside. The original WKD is quite a vibrant orange colour a bit like that of cheap orangeade, while the WKD blueberry is a bright clear blue – always reminds me of those blue slushpuppys you could buy when I was a kid, the ones that turned your tongue blue for hours! The alcohol content is pretty average for most alcopops and comes in at 5.5%volume (I believe that’s the same for both versions). WKD is a carbonated drink, but I’ve never found it to be a particularly strong fizz when you drink it. It doesn’t fill your mouth with bubbles when you take a swig like say a mouthful of Coca cola would do.
The price on these drinks varies wildly, and I’ve seen it priced at an incredible £3.50 for a single bottle in one (so called) exclusive night club in London – Personally I think exclusive should just read expensive! – I’ve also seen it as low as £4.00 for a pack of 4 bottles in my brothers local off licence. A more normal price range would probably be £1.50 to £2.00 per bottle depending on if you buy it in a pub, club or off licence, and where in the country you are (cities – particularly London – tend to be more expensive for some reason)
I believe the alcoholic part of this drink is Vodka (like so many other alcopops) basically for me this means that I can taste it is alcoholic, but can’t taste a specific alcoholic ingredient like I could if they’d used rum or schnapps for example. If you’re looking for a tipple which isn’t too over powering, is basically a ‘long drink’ and which has a flavour all of its own, give one of these two a try. (My sister-in-law just read this and asked me how I could say WKD blueberry is not nice…it’s one of her favourite drinks and she thinks its much nicer than the original WKD – I guess we all have our different tastes eh!).
~*~ WARNING ~*~ This is one of those drinks you really don’t want to leave where the kids can reach it. Like many alcopops, because this does not have a strong alcoholic flavour, it is very appealing to small children!
I agree with you-the blue WKD is foul! But just about everyone I know disagrees with me! My favourite is the Original one-I can't stand the Silver one that has recently been brought out. It tastes like medicine to me...too sweet. Great op! Erica xxx :)

I think I prefer the blue so we'd be alright on a night out together, lol
