Before you hassle me, I know I’m underage, technically speaking, I shouldn’t really be writing this, but come on, you can’t tell me you never had a wild side when you were a child can you?

Vodka, One of the most lethal things to get drunk on, behind Ouzo and Absinthe. That’s vodka in it’s purest form perhaps, but that can be a little strong for some people. Not for me it isn’t, I love vodka and everything about it, the taste, the smell, the way it lingers in your throat and makes you warm, and of course the state it leaves you in! So why aren’t I writing about Smirnoff then? Well, because my budget won’t allow me to, it’s been so long since I had enough cash to buy it that I can’t remember a lot about it (perhaps the after effects added to that as well). So instead I’m writing about one of my trusty faves, Blue WKD.

Some people say alcopops don’t do anything for them, but I really love them, I think when I’m out with friends they are a lot easier to buy and they’re cheaper, and you can space out you’re drinking time with them.

I’ve tried quite a few different varieties and makes, but I’ve never found one I like as much as this. The taste is unique, and although there are a lot of brands which try to copy the drink, the original has and always will be the best out of the lot of them. There are three different flavours in the range, original Iron-bru flavour, which I don’t like as iron-bru has never really appealed to my taste buds, then there is a brand new flavour, original silver, which the website says is “made by mixing a blend of secret ingredients with, you guessed it, vodka.” And then of course, there’s original blue, which tastes like a mixture of bubblegum, blueberry and vodka (which isn’t really unusual, considering they’re all made with vodka).

Each flavour contains 5.5% which is quite a lot, seeing as some of the bottled beers are only around 4%. The bottles are plain glass apart from the silver one, where the bottle is, you guessed it, silver. The label has a large blue and white label on the front with WKD written on it. All the details of the alcohol percentage are given on the back, and it tells you the number of units each bottle contains.

For 275 ml (a small bottle) the price is around £1.50 and for 700ml (large bottle, my kinda bottle) It’s around £3.00, although sometimes special offers are of special benefits, well not for your liver!

So, are they nice then? Well I think the blue is delicious, it has a really unique taste to it, and is something you can drink a lot of and you won’t get sick of it (or at least I don’t). It’s quite cheap to buy, and won’t make you end up unconscious from two bottles, which is another benefit of it not being pure vodka.
As an alcopop, I would give this 9.5 out of 10, and that’s only because I want more alcohol in it! The taste is original, and in my book, has yet to be beaten (mind you, I’m still young!). It’s great value for money, especially when bought in multipacks, or packs of 24 (yummy!) so it won’t damage your pockets either.

Have you got a WKD side?
