WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2007 (PSP)

...not up to standards as WWE TV standards although are a lot of fun. The season allwos you to battle in feuds and title-matches depending on what weight division you are in. This is in-depth and varied and you can lose hours easily spent on this.

I bought this game as a huge fan of the PS2 Smackdown! series and this latest addition to the roster does not disappoint. It brings the fresh and fast paced action of wrestling to the pint-sized PSP and the port of the PS2 version is very impressive indeed considering size of the PSP.

This game does much to keep up the high standards of the successful series and found this game to be worthy on its own merits.
The game features a huge roster of wrestler and the game includes the season mode which allows you to go through the game with your very own, created character. Nothing beats the thrill of tag-teaming with 'The Rock' against your opponents and this game does little to take the thrill away.

The GOOD Points:

Graphics - this is probably one of the first impressive features you will notice and the character models are very good indeed. The wrestlers look as they are intended, clearly recognising your favourite superstars which gives the game authenticity. The interactive nature of the game makes good work of the visuals and the titan-tron entrances are very pretty. The only downside is that audience do not look as realistic and move in an unrealistic, repetitive fashion. This is just me nit-picking, the graphics are superb for a PSP

This will allow you to use these as weapons - much fund to be foudn here. There are the usual assortment of weapons such as tables and chairs, but you will also find lying around fire extinguishers, speakers, and a huge production tower to jump off, doing cool aerial moves. A lot of fun overall here

Season mode - this is in-depth and evry impressive indeed. There are at least 40 different storylines here which differentaites the fueds leading up to a big pay-per-view. The storylines allow you to make choices such as to ally or attack someone, making it interesting and varied. The story lines are not up to standards as WWE TV standards although are a lot of fun. The season allwos you to battle in feuds and title-matches depending on what weight division you are in. This is in-depth and varied and you can lose hours easily spent on this.

Matches - include the standard single, tag team and triple threat. Backstage brawls and buried alive add to the ingenuity of the matches, and add to the excitement

Create modes - You can create a character, stable or even a ring entrance. Create-an-entrance is the biggest draw and change in the previous game on the PSP. You can now preview a wrestler's entrance easily, using range of came. The load-up time for each preview is better than the old PSP title.

The BAD Points:

Controls - the control systme has had to be adapted to the PSP from the PS2 although this is not big deal. The grappling uses the circle button and holding it down will allow you to do a strong grapple, opening you up to new moves of larger damage. The dual analog system found on the PS2 cannot be emulated due to the fact PSP only has one analog stick, and hence gameplay can be a little slower than PS2 version. Although not much to worry about here as you will soon get used to the new system easily.

Loading times - these can be very long indeed for up to 3 minutes per match and this can get very tedious. Although is an improvements on the old PSP version.

Lack online play - this is pretty shameful as PS2 verison has full online capabilities. This is a big miss for a huge PSP title.

OVERALL: this is a fine wrestling game on its own rights and has a lot of features to keep you entertained. This will not disappoint fans of the Smackdown! series. The lenghty loading times take away from a great title although other than that, you will go far to find a better wrestling title on the PSP.
