But this years edition is much more improved with the addition of ecw, 24/7 mode and hall of fame mode. But thats not all the biggest improvement of all is the fighting styles. Each wrestler has their own abilities. The abilities can be a showman, dirty, high-flying, hardcore, powerhouse, technical, submission or brawler. For example John Cena is a power house so his moves will cause more damage and Ric Flair is a dirty superstar, he will cheat to win. This makes the gameplay more fun and enjoyable and more tactical.
There are plenty of matches to choose, from your classic one-on one matches to tlc matches, extreme rules match where anything goes and you can now set fire to tables and weapons to cause more damage than ever before to your opponents. There is also a GM Mode, where you can run your own show by choosing your brand and then your matches. The aim of GM mode is to win the overall fans ratings at the end of the year and become GM of the year! There's plenty of items to unlock in the wwe shop and legend characters such as The rock and Bret Hart to buy by earning cash in career mode.
The career mode is a massive improvement to all the other smackdown games. You can do much more this time round. You can star in a film ,do autograph signings and train up your superstars to help improve their stats.
What I like about the controls this time round is that they have got rid of the B button which was used to build up your stamina from last years smackdown which got annoying, now all you need to do is go out the ring for a quick breather instead of having to press B every couple of seconds. The only problem with the new control set up is getting use to the submission control which instead of always having to press the buttons quickly its the right analog stick and its more about timing.
Graphics are amazing some entrances like HHH and Mr Kennedys are the best i've seen on any wrestling game which makes it even more enjoyable to play. The sound is quality and in this years edition you can bring your own music into the game for your created superstar.
Online play has also improved more than last years, when people last year disconnected from a match online it would affect your streak of wins and for some reason start you back on 0, but this time if someone quits a match early your given the win. You can still create and defend your title online and trade created superstars.
There are 30 achievements to unlock on the game 10 which are secret achievements .
This is a must buy game for all wrestling fans or if you like your fighting games then this is the game for you.

The Smackdown Series peaked at Smackdown 2 on the Sony PlayStation 1. Ever since then the annually released Smackdown series has been plummeting title after title. The currently available Smackdown vs Raw 2008 is no exception. The game features a large roster, including classic superstars like Roddy Piper and Mick Foley and impressive selection of match types but it's game play destroys any appeal. This is where we see a flawed control system which ... ...clunky, slow and not fun to use. executing any form of move using a table for instance seems more down to chance rather than skill. In the few weeks solid i played this title i couldn't once use the announcers table to put an opponent through, even though the minute manual included with the game told me i could.
The story mode is week, often repeating animations and the stories are no more than a joke.
Even create a superstar feels toned down with ...

The latest edition of Smackdown Vs Raw is amazing. I've played all the other games and this one is certainly the best! There is so many more options in this edition. One of the more noticeable features is the ECW Extreme Rules Match. You can go under the ring and grab any weapon you like. My friends and I were always saying when we played the previous games that it would be good to be able to choose what weapon you had. In this edition you can! Perfection!
... ...called the 24/7 mode where you can play as a created superstar or a superstar on the roster, The goal is to become a legend. Which isn't easy! Believe me! The stories are good on the 24/7 mode but I still prefer playing the GM Mode which is also still available on this edition but is much better as you can send superstars to play roles in movies, do interviews, pay per view commercials and more.

Advantages: ECW & Extreme Rules match graphics second to none! Disadvantages: None really part from some may need to work out the controls
This is the best WWE Game out
So much fun and so realistic
Graphics is superb and just like the real thing. Hell in a cell is much better than other years.
ECW Feautres Extreme Rules which i love.
So many more weapons and features than the previous 2007 game.
You are able to light tables on fire and also the Barbs Wire. You can also back drop someone into the table while its on fire with ease and without having to place them on it
Just about ... ...are faily easy but might take awhile for some players. There is tutorials before you start the game or you have the option to tough it out.
Im abit disapointed it does not have the punjobi prison match but im sure that will come next year.
Like i said this is the best Wrestling game of all time and well worth buying ...

...The latest game in the WWE SVR series is a "slobber knocker!" bringing more advanced features than ever an almost 100% improvement upon the previous game.
Why do I say this? Just look and observe the graphics, they were so stunningly realistic that I now cringe when I perform finishing moves. This is also jam packed with new features an increase in the roster and the inclusion of the ECW brand. More moves including the ability to set people on fire!, ...
