PlayStation 2 in the newest release in theSmackdownseries, and manage to entertain to the max on the way. Fans of the earlier American wrestling games should feel right at home here: there are a huge number of stars from the show on hand to mete out punishment in a wide variety of interesting ways. Newcomers should have no difficulty either, as the controls are a dream to use.Just Bring Itprovides so many battle modes it's hard to keep track of what they are--if "Hell in a Cell" is your thing then go for it, but don't miss "TLC" (tables, ladders and chairs) and the "Royal Rumble" along the way; all are faithfully recreated for your grappling pleasure. And grappling is where it's at. TheSmackdowncombat system is about as good as it gets. Timing is the key to a good offence: lunge towards your opponent too early and you'll leave yourself wide open, get it just right and you'll take hold in time to execute one of numerous different moves designed to make the audience wince.Being on the receiving end isn't just a case of taking the punishment, however. A counter move is included to return or block punches or twist and twirl out of the path of an incoming hold--top stuff indeed. Keen to add that authentic touch, the developers have included the big entrance scenarios for each of the superstars, complete with signature tunes and Titantron videoscreen introductions. The only downside to a really great game is the amount of storage space it gobbles on the average PS2 memory card--4 MB, which seems overly generous by any standard. This minor niggle aside,Just Bring Itis a very entertaining title which should keep the average player occupied for months.--Chris Russell

Not much has changed in gameplay terms from videos and pictures displayed on numerous sites. The speed is the same, as fast as ever. It seems too fast for me but that may be because I have been avidly playing No Mercy for the N64. The fighting style is the same and the same engine from previous outings. Luckily, the PS2’s power has enabled THQ to implement commentary from Michael Cole and Tazz into the mix. There are few improvements but they are worth it. The entrances have been vastly improved with full, 3D entrances instead of an almost completely FMV-based entrance. The roster has been updated, but a lot of the regulars are still there, only adding about 5 or 10 new wrestlers to the roster. The modes are disappointing though. There is only 1 new mode I can think of off the top of my head and the remaining 60 or 70 modes are just multiplayer versions of matches from SD2.
The graphics are what you might expect from the PS2. The entrance graphics are simply amazing. The in-game graphics are nothing special. Each sequence seamlessly flows into the next and it makes for some impressive playing.
The audio is of reasonable quality but again, nothing special. It is far from CD quality but definitely audible. You may hardly notice the music with lush graphics in the entrances though. The commentary is a disappointment. The commentary doesn’t flow together very well.
I hope that all the bugs and problems that I have criticized are ironed out before the release and if they are, THQ may have another best seller on their hands here.
Advantages: none at all Disadvantages: too easy, becomes a bore
At the time when WWF Smackdown was set to be released I was quite excited and looking forward to it. Having loved WWF Attitude, I was rather hoping a superb game was to be released. I bought the game at the recommendation of a few friends and at the recomendations of some writers who had reviewed it in magazine articles. It had been spoken of as a superb game which was extremely entertaining to play. This made me decide to buy the game. Having played ... ...more of it, like in WWF Attitude where the commentary made part of the game. Instead, Smackdown has opted for some dull, repetitive music that repeats itself continuously. The most important point about a game is its’ enjoyability and the fun it provides. WWF Smackdown is faster in terms of both game speed and its far too easy. The ease of play becomes makes the game extremely boring when you win and win forever. Smackdown is not much of a ...

Advantages: The speed, the WWF license Disadvantages: Dull music, tiresome season mode
Having played and enjoyed WWF Attitude, I was expecting WWF Smackdown! to be enjoyable and good value for money. Although it has sold a lot, I find it well and truly over-hyped. Thanks to its WWF licence, the game has sold well.
The presentation of this game is horrible: after all it is wrestling and it should feel more ‘hardcore’. Instead, we are presented with menu's that feel as though they were designed for an older generation of ... ...lack of commentary: one of WWF Attitude’s good points. Instead, WWF Smackdown! has opted for some dull, repetitive music that repeats itself continuously.
Of course, the most important point about a game is how enjoyable it is. First of all, WWF Smackdown! is faster in terms of both game speed and its ease of play. The ease of play becomes a problem soon as moves are far too easy to pull off: especially the ‘finishers’ where what ...

...just now even for non wwf fans, the action is quite brilliant. This game stands out among the wwf playstation range as it is the most realistic game to be brought out. three way dances, royal rumbles etc... The graphics are also superb the attention to detail is amazing you can even see the rock doing the peoples eyebrow. All i can say is bring on the next wwf smackdown. Where hopefully the new wrestlers and even table matches will hopefully be added ...

...out there who loves the WWF wrewstling this game is a must have. It has loads of different types of matches you can play, loads of different wrestlers to choose from, and by the use of a 4-way multi-tap you can have up to 4 players playing at any one time. The game has so mush for you to do in it, you can fight a Royal rumble, be a referee whilst your friends fight, start a career, make your own players etc. You get to watch all the entrance movies ...

Advantages: Many charchters, moves and types of matches Disadvantages: Some Charchters much stronger than others
Im not usually a fan of beat um up's, but in this case Ive made an exception. This game is so addictive, I just cant stop playing! The range of charachters and moves is amazing including The Rock, Stone Cold, Big Boss Man, The Hardy Boyz, Paul Bearer, Undertaker and Kane plus many many more. The fighters moves ring true to life, including the SMackdown moves such as the Rocks "Peoples Elbow" and Shaun Michales "Sweet Chin Music". If the option to ... ...the events in the wrestling calander trying to get up the rankings and get a title shot amongst other things) there are many other battle modes which give the game such variety. Matches such as "Tables, Ladders and Chairs" and my favourite "Slobber Knocker"(see how many you can beat in 10mins) The game just goes on and on. The interface is easy to use and the control mechanism is easy to pick up which makes gaming a joy. On top of this theres a brilliant ...

Advantages: Graphics, 60+ Wrestlers, Loads and loads of matches, Just everything really Disadvantages: Players needs to be updated such as Shawn Michaels who isnt even there anymore plus big show isnt in the game
As a keen wrestling fan, I tend to buy all the wrestling computer games which appear on the Playstation such as the likes of WWF Warzone, WWF Attitude, WCW Mayhem, ECW Hardcore Revolution, WWFSmackdown. So I decided to spend my dosh once again, so I purchased THQ's Smackdown 2 Know your role.
After owning the first version I thought that this could be just as good (but as we know some sequels are no where near as good as the original. But for a mere £20 I thought what the hell.
As soon as it loaded with the menu screen, I saw all the options available and I thought - how the hell did they fit all this stuff on to a measly CD. So the original thought in my mind was that if they got loads of stuff on it - the graphics are gonna suffer.
The menu has the following:

Season
Create PPV
Create a Superstar

Advantages: Smooth gameplay, top notch graphics. Disadvantages: None.
The Introduction -
WWFSmackdown 2 is by far the best wrestling game ever made for PlayStation and quite possibly for any game system. The original Smackdown game for PSX was a highly successful game and Smackdown 2 does nothing but improve on the already great Smackdown series. The gameplay is great, the graphics are as good as they can be and the sound is above average for this very entertaining and fun title. Even if you don't watch the wrestling, this game is worth a look.
The Graphics -
The graphics in this game are very good, as in the original Smackdown game. Not that many changes were needed graphics wise, but the minor ones that needed to be changed were done. The backstage area, the ring, and the crowd have all been improved upon. There are more backstage scenes with all the intricate details of a huge backstage ...
Advantages: Easy to get into, plenty of game modes Disadvantages: Boring single player
The year 2000 has been an interesting year in general, and for wrestling. The WWF has pretty much stayed on top, with WCW having constant booking problems, and with ECW struggling to stay afloat. That pretty much holds true for the wrestling video game industry, too. THQ has brought out two WWF games for the Playstation this year - Smackdown and Smackdown 2. They have reigned supreme over the over PSX wrestling games, but they are still full of flaws much like in real life. Let's take a look at how they compare.
In real life, the WWF rehashes old storylines for today's use. In Smackdown 2, the WWF rehashes old feuds over and over again.
In real life, the WWF rarely ever has Triple H or Chyna do the J-O-B. In Smackdown 2, Triple H and Chyna still rarely ever lose.
There are a couple comparisons right there. I would list more ...
