I was recently trying to sell some shares in a foreign company but one which is traded on the British Stock Exchange as well. I cant tell you how many problems that I had trying to sell them. Many stockbrokers including Barclays were unable to sell them because they were foreign shares, others could not give you a price before selling them, they would sell them and then let you know how much they had got and then others needed to wait at least 2 weeks for an account to be opened for me, not ideal if you want to sell shares when they are at a good price and do not have an account set up yet for ... more
