My old computer mouse has often gives me problems and frustrated me when I am using it for freehand drawing! I decided to looks for an alternative tool. My colleague recommend Wacom products at the right times, so I immediately have a look at my local store after my work, then I do some online search and I decided to buy the Bamboo Fun Medium at a Singapore Dollar of $299 at Challenger Store.

The reason I select a medium one instead of small is because it provided a bigger and better drawing platform for my convenience. Also, it came with a bundle of products like Adobe Photoshop Elements 5 and Corel Painter Essential 3 which I think it is the best time for me to upgrade my graphic software instead.

The whole set came with a tablet and USB cable for connection, a pen with a holding stand, a wireless mouse, and two CDs - one for Bamboo Fun driver installation and one for bundled software.

The CD Rom
There are two CDs, one for install the tablet driver and one for the bundled software. The CD is user friendly for install and came with a tutorial flash program. You can launch it anytime you need help.

So I started to test it with Photoshop.

The pen
The standard pen which came with the set allows you to simulate the natural behaviour as a pencil or brushes for retouching a photo or drawing a graphic. It came with a button that can press in two ways for multiple tasks. The upper button is quite flexible; it provides a difference set of selection if you choose from difference tools. The lower button is only for hand tool. You can also use it for writing, but not select from text tool, just use the pencil tool to write. There are some other types of pens which more powerful for use but I think it is just enough for me.

The wireless mouse
The mouse came with same function as the normal PC mouse. The "fingerwheel" can easily enlarge or reduce the percentage of view by scroll up or down.

The tablet
There are four customizable express keys. For back and forward, switch application and the interesting part is open a Window Journal. I never know it until I pressed on it. The Window Journal looks like a note book and allow you to write on it with the pen or the mouse.

The switch application button switches your applications in a cool style! You just keep on pressing until the applications you want go to the front and wait a while.

The touch ring on the top centre of the tablet with a cool blue light when on, allows you to zoom in or out by using your finger to turn clockwise or counterclockwise. It can use for scrolling the screen up or down easily.

Conclusion
The mouse is still more convenience for selecting the menu or tools, the pen is really superb in freehand drawing without any frustration as in using the mouse. This wireless mouse cannot use in freehand drawing.

It is convenience that you can plug in anytime and just use it after the installation. You don't need to take out your PC mouse and even use them both.

The final artwork satisfied or not? Still depending on your creativity and drawing skill, not the tablet!

p.s. I still failed to join artwork selling program!
