Advantages Advantages Quick, easy, no mess

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Few stockists

My dog eats Wafcol on the advice of his doctor. More specifically, he eats Wafcol Salmon & Potato because he is allergic to almost any food in sight, which is very trying for a Golden Retriever. Wafcol Salmon & Potato is almost the only manufactured food he is allowed to eat. He, of course, is completely oblivious to this, but I digress. Having spent a small fortune on blood tests and vet’s bills and having been advised to feed him Wafcol, I looked at their website and came up wondering whether I could have saved myself lots of money just by visiting Wafcol online. It is a very impressive ... more

Advantages Advantages Gentle for dogs with food allergies

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not a budget food

A little while ago we discovered our newest addition, Dharma the Bullmastiff has an intolerance to rice in her food that left her with digestive upsets and skin problems. We immediately went on the lookout for dog foods that didn't contain the dreaded cereal, only to find that most dog foods advertised as "hypoallergenic" for dogs with allergies contained it. Then we stumbled across Wafcol - their Fish and Corn, Chicken and Corn and Salmon and Potato foods were all rice free. The search was on to find a stockist. Luckily we have a Jollye's pet store near us, and Wafcol is stocked by most of ... more

Advantages Advantages Good quality food that is effective for dogs with skins conditions.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Many normal pet outlets do not stock Wafcol and, if they do, only a limited range.

I have two westies, one who is 16 years old this October and my new baby who is 10 months. Both dogs have sensitive skin and I have tried numerous varieties of dog food, including hypergenic ones, to no avail. The only make of dog food that suits them both is Wafcol. The eldest dog, Jamie, was nearly 12 months old before a dog nutritionalist recommended we try him on Wafcol. Up to then he had received numerous steroid injections, very costly and in the long term, ineffective. The new dog, Dudley, was also starting on that 'road'. As recommended by our vet, I tried different makes and types but ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to obtain and store. Appetising to the dog.

Disadvantages Disadvantages In my opinion it should be alternated with other foods.

At one time we fed both our dogs on Wafcol after it was reccommended to us by our veterinary surgeon. The dogs enjoyed it and we fed them on it almost exclusively, however, it was thought that by doing this it had caused a problem in one of the dogs as a fibre ring had formed inside the anus and he had to have it removed by the vet who said he thought it was due to feeding him on too much of a fibre diet. While I have no hesitation reccommending this product, I would also say that it pays to vary the diet as often as one can within reason. A dog which is fed exclusively on one type of food ... more

Advantages Advantages Good for dogs with sensitive tummys, easy for dogs to eat

Disadvantages Disadvantages Hard to find stockists

I have a 3 yr old labrador with a sensitive tummy. Every dog food i tried either upset her stomach, or made her loose condition, that was until i discovered Wafcol. I switched her over to Wafcol hypoallergenic Adult Chicken & Corn food and noticed the difference almost straight away! According to its packet wafcol hypoallergenic Adult Chicken & Corn dog food is free from wheat gluten, barley, rye, oats, red meat, dairy products and all artificial colours and flavours, which tend to be the things that cause bad skin and sensitive tummys in dogs. As for my dog: Gone was the sensitive stomach ... more
