Being a hair school virgin I decided to play safe and have a simple trim. I followed the rest of the 'simple' guinea pigs into a large-ish room which had about 30 seats lined up on both sides of the room. Each person was allocated to a work station and another woman, the professional hairdresser, once again came round to everyone to clarify exactly what is was they wanted done. During the initial consultation with her, the student on which I was going to lay my complete trust (aaaah!!!) listened attentively as the pro gave tips on how to do the cut etc. She was a tiny Japanese thing: I'm sorry if I keep talking about the Japanese here but there simply are loads of them here! ...had to give it a go! The School The address is... 56 Davies Mews London W1Y 1A7 I turned up at the School (it looks dingy on the outside, but is so trendy inside! Don't judge a book and all that!), and after a brief chat with the receptionist i decided to wander over to the Advanced Academy. Best decision in my life! The Advanced Acedamey is located on Grosvenor St, they'll direct you to the place. The Academy looks so fantastic, its stylish and very high class! I booked in with the receptionist and waited in the waiting area. The reception is very trendy and it's not uncommon to see some strange haircuts on the receptionists. Don't let this worry you though! The waiting area is quite posh; this is where they get other professionals on courses to wait so it's very nice. Walking down Tottenham Court Road last night (on my way to see Wallace and Gromit at the pictures - another review there!), my boyfriend and I were stopped by a man and woman, clutching their Toni and Guy Academy Training packs. The guy introduced himself as Rob, and explained that he was in his 3rd year of hairdressing and currently working on his diploma at the Academy, (just round the corner in New Oxford Street) and was looking for people willing to model particular cuts for him to be assessed on. Now as I have already said I really dislike being stopped on the street, but this pair were so friendly and very professional. They immediately explained who they were and why they had stopped us, and showed us their credentials to put us at ease.
