The James Martin Wahl ZX595 coffee bean, herb and spice grinder is fine for chopping up herbs and spices and generally does a good enough job of that, but the grinder's weakness soon becomes apparent.
I specifically bought this product for grinding roasted coffee beans - it is advertsed as such. However, coffee beans, being relatively hard objects shatter the not-very-substantial plastic lid once the grinder is switched on. Tiny bits of plastic then amalgamate with the coffee grounds. This happened the very first time I used the appliance. I called Wahl's helpline who, I must admit, were very helpful in that they immediately sent me a replacement lid.Unfortunately the design of the replacement lid was different to the one that I bought and did not fit, meaning that the safety mechanism remained inoperative. Another telephone call saw Wahl sending me the correct lid. This lid also shattered just like the first, rendering the appliance useless once more. I gave up and threw the whole thing in the bin.
