This is one of the products that I had to buy over and over again from Waitrose; everybody just fell in love with it. Normally I just stick to the normal frozen chips from any supermarket thinking that they all taste the same, but when I discovered these spicy potato wedges I knew I was wrong.
The product comes in a normal orange recyclable plastic bag that you can buy from Waitrose or www.Ocado.com for £1.39. This is definitely more expensive than the normal frozen potato chips, and depending on the number of people you are serving, this 750g is enough for two times at most. Still, this will be a much more enjoyable side dish than the usual potato chips, and your visitors might just like it more than the main dish you are serving.
To cook these potato wedges from frozen, you have to put them in a preheated oven for 20-24 minutes, and make sure you spread one layer only over a baking tray, for these wedges are somewhat thick and they need time to cook evenly.
Almost 92% of this product is the potatoes which are described as specially selected Maris piper jacket potato wedges (Waitrose have to remind you that they use the finest ingredients all the time). The coating on the potato wedges is 4% and it contains: (wheat flour, wheat starch, salt, modified potato starch, spice, sugar, flavourings, and herbs). Unfortunately this does not say much about the product.
Tasting it, I enjoyed the crispiness of the potatoes and loved the spices in the coating, but I couldn't guess what they were. One of my friends, who didn't like garlic at all, thought that these wedges must have garlic in them, but he ate them nonetheless. I agreed with him, but the ingredients on the bag don't reveal much. Still, the texture, smell and taste are perfect.
