... But as soon as we got into Wales, everything went about 0.1 mph. The roads of windy and unpassable. Some of them actually have sheep ON the roads, so beware if you are going round a sharp corner. (I'm not joking, there really were sheep on the road....some grazing patches are either side of ... Read review

My account of Aberystwyth...

AdvantagesHigh ratings, good facilities, great scenery

DisadvantagesThe hill, hostility between English + Welsh

" rooms. The National Library of Wales is located adjacent to the University, and holds over 6 million volumes! The university library has nearly 1 million volumes, so you are spoilt for choice when it comes to writing final dissertations! Building vary in age, and some lecture theatres are vary old and in poor condition. Although some are fairly new, such as those in the Physical Sciences building. On the whole, the learning facilites ..." Read review

Excellent University

AdvantagesGreat Location, Good Teaching, It's in Wales, Reasonably Cheap

DisadvantagesIt is in the middle of nowhere

"Background: First some background, I studied Business Studies at Aberystwyth University from 1995 - 1998. Therefore I can comment on the teaching within the Economics, Accountancy and Business courses as well as some German Language and History courses that I took. I am going to break this review down into two, the university and the town life as both are as important as each other should you decide whether to spend the next 3 or 4 years of your ..." It's Been A While.

AdvantagesExcellent quality of teaching and educational facilities, good local amenities, friendly people and all set in stunning surroundings

DisadvantagesA tad too small and one or two unwelcoming locals

"...the central, erm, coast of Wales (yes I actually chose to come to Wales) in the county of Ceredigion. It is the largest town in western Wales which does make it somewhat isolated with nowhere else of significant size for the surrounding 50 miles or so. The main town itself lies at the foot of Penglais hill bordered by hills (Pendinas and Constitution Hill) on either side. The town is fronted by a long stretch of rather stoney beach with the occasional ..." Read review

It's a local town for local people...or maybe not

AdvantagesIt's cheap, Friendly, good teaching/courses

Disadvantagescan be hard for a city boy/girl to adjust

"...the best Law school in Wales and amongst the top 20 best Law Schools in the uk - that surely is a plus point. They also specialise in environmental degrees such a biology - the Uni neighbouring the sea is a bonus, and of course agriculture and equine. The Uni is trying to get more courses taught through a medium of Welsh also, especially after recent protests by Welsh students, so they really do offer diversity. The facilities are also excellent ..." Read review

Still receiving counselling ...

AdvantagesEverything on one campus, some quite attractive halls

DisadvantagesHalf the student accommodation is 20 mins walk away in town - almost all of it uphill towards the Uni.

"My opinion of Aberystwyth University is likely to be heavily clouded by my experiences there at the hands of one Greek female flat mate (a law student) and her mother. But I'll try to be as objective as I can. I've read some of the other negative opinions and can identify with many of the flaws. I went there in 1998 to study a newly launched course, a Beng in Interactive Multimedia Engineering. I was the first person to sample that particular course's ..." Read review
