ANYONE FOR LAMB CRISPS

Advantages Tasty
Disadvantages fattening
There I was staring at the new show of crisps at my favourite local store – Sainsbury’s. Was I brave enough to try the new lemon chicken, no I don’t think so. What about the new vanilla ice cream flavour snacks? Definitely not! So finally I picked up the lamb and mint sauce flavour from Walkers Sensations – you know the posh crisp! I dallied for a while: Well I did love lamb and mint sauce, but would they be nice in a crisp? Maybe I should stick with the usual flavoured crisps I know and love? Eventually when my wife shouted at me to hurry up I made my choice, and chose the new lamb and mint flavour.
The time came to eat them and when I placed the first one in my mouth I realised it actually tasted like beef flavour. After the second the mint lamb was beginning to come through and by the third I could fully taste the advertised flavour. After my initial caution I began to eat them like someone was going to withdraw the packet in front f me for being a naughty boy. However, due to other food I didn’t complete the whole pack, though it wasn’t too long before they were all gone.
Walkers assure me that the crisps will bring back memories of a family favourite. Succulent lamb, oven-cooked the traditional way is perfectly complimented with a generous sprinkling of chopped mint. But did it bring back those memories? In a word not at all, I mean what can beat a Sunday lunch of lamb and mint sauce?Walkers are the country’s biggest crisp producer and indeed manage to create a crisp from a potato in just twenty minutes! The range of snacks they produce is quite something, and the Walkers brand in unique to Britain.
The packet is white in colour with some rather attractive pictures on the front: one black and white of a man holding a basket of potatoes the other is a picture of a roasted joint of lamb smothered in mint. It would be very hard to assume they were any other flavour, but just in case there is writing to confirm the flavour.Reasons for buying: The crisps are very tasty and despite my initial worried proved to be extremely nice. Lamb and mint sauce on a crisp does go. The packet is a whopping 150g big enough for the largest appetite or to share.
Reasons not to buy: Fattening – typically with crisps the fat content is in the late 20’s grams per 100 grams, 485 calories per 100gs is not a great thing to have if you are on a diet. The cost of the crisps were £1.49 for the larger than normal packet. My favourite sensations flavour has always been the salt and vinegar one, (which seems very hard to get hold of these days), and despite my enjoyment of these crisps the salt and vinegar remain my favourite.
Overall:I personally really enjoyed these crisps, though I wouldn’t say they were my favourites at all. If you like Lamb and mint then these is for you. You need to savour the flavour for a little while before you actually realise what the flavour is, and I doubt anyone could tell the flavour by just one or two crisps. However once past that then it does flow through. Sensations have brought us some nice and unusual flavours such as: Sea salt and cracked black pepper, Oven roasted chicken and thyme, Thai sweet chilli, and four cheese and red onion. Of course my favourite remains the salt and vinegar which they no longer seem to produce (there is no mention of it on the back of this pack). Smaller packets are available in some flavours though not all. Generally recommended
