Advantages: Quite Tasty Disadvantages: High In Calories, Full Of E Numbers
I've just eaten a Magnum Classic Ice Cream and I make no apologies because I really enjoyed it. To be honest with you I don't actually remember buying it, I found it in my freezer whilst looking for some oven chips. Anyway there was no best before date on the packet but I figured it couldn't have been there for too long and if it had, well I'm afraid it's a little bit too late now.
The Packaging
The Magnum Ice Cream ... ...a lollipop. I'm not sure if it's sold in any different formats like a large tub but if it is I haven't yet come across it. Anyway the empty wrapper in front of me refers to a 86g ice cream bar.
The wrapper is a shiny, rich, dark brown colour with the word "Magnum" emblazoned across the front of it on a red background. Above this there is a white swirl and beneath this the word "Classic." The reverse of the wrapper ... more
I've just eaten a Magnum Classic Ice Cream and I make no apologies because I really enjoyed it. To be honest with you I don't actually remember buying it, I found it in my freezer whilst looking for some oven chips. Anyway there was no best before date on the packet but I figured it couldn't have been there for too long and if it had, well I'm afraid it's a little bit too late now.
The Packaging
The Magnum Ice Cream that I have just devoured was in the form of a lollipop.
Above this there is a white swirl and beneath this the word "Classic." The reverse of the wrapper is full of small text listing the ingredients in about twenty different languages, I'm sure English is in there somewhere but I can't actually see it. Maybe I just ate a fake or some kind of foreign import…. Oops!
Appearance & Taste
As soon as you tear open the wrapper you are greeted with a lump of frozen ice cream on a wooden stick, hidden beneath a dark chocolate coating. There is only a very faint smell even when I held it quite close to my nostrils.
I like to get my teeth stuck into a lolly as I don't see the point in all of this delicate licking and the first bite was obviously cold on the teeth but revealed that the chocolate coating was much thinner than I had expected. In fact a couple of large chocolaty bits flaked off and fell onto the floor, I may be in the habit of eating out of date ice cream but I wasn't stooping as low as picking these bits up off the floor and eating them, so needless to say I did feel a little bit cheated.
Beneath the disappointingly thin layer of chocolate there is the pure white vanilla ice cream, this has a nice hard texture and a flavour of almonds which is very pleasant and despite my criticisms does actually compliment the chocolate quite well, and leaves a taste in your mouth which does linger for quite a while.
Price & Availability
This is quite a difficult paragraph for me since I don't actually recall buying this Magnum Ice Cream bar so I cheated in the interest of this review and checked out the Asda website where I discovered that a pack of three of these currently costs £1.71. They are also available in varieties called Magnum White and Magnum 5 Senses but despite further rummaging through my freezer I don't appear to have acquired any of these.
Magnum Classic Ice Cream Bars are widely available from most outlets including Petrol Station Forecourts and local shops. I have seen these in my local Spar shop and suspect that the bar I have just eaten may have followed me from there after a few pints on the town.
Conclusion
Magnum Bars are ideal as an occasional treat but I suspect that they are high in calories and this is probably why the nutritional information has been omitted from the packaging, and be warned because careful scrutiny of the small foreign text reveals one list of ingredients which is the same in all languages…..E471, E442, E476, E410, E407.….
Anyway despite there lack of nutritional properties I did enjoy my Magnum and would definitely recommend these to others. Hopefully the Magnum fairies will come again tonight and restock my freezer…I'll keep, my fingers crossed.
Advantages: Chocolate and ice cream Disadvantages: None
Summer summer summertime and that only means one thing, ice cream! I love it when it's hot outside as i now have a good excuse to eat ice cream, as if you really need an excuse, but anyway. One of my favourite ways to eat ice cream is in bar form and in my opinion one of the best ranges around is the range from Magnum! Magnum is an ice cream brand is owned by the British/Dutch Unilever company. They have quite a lot of different flavours that they ... ...last couple of years such as Mayan Mystica, Ecuador Dark and Colombia aroma but I have to say that my favourite is actually the original version, now known as the Magnum classic. The Magnum Classic first came out in 1989 and was just called Magnum but was later rebranded. It can be likened to a choc ice, ie vanilla ice cream covered in milk chocolate but it is way more than that. Firstly the Magnum classic comes on a stick so you do not end up with ...

Advantages: Creamy, smooth texture. Makes you want more. Disadvantages: Bit too expensive for just 3 ice creams.
Having eaten one of these delicious and luxurious ice creams today, I can safely say that it is one of the tastiest ice creams around. Walls Magnum Classics are characterised by their connotations of posh grandeur, and this fact I think distinguishes it from any other ice cream brand in the market. However, with the high quality comes the rather high price. At anything between about £1 and £2, they are probably best kept as an occasional luxury rather ... ...up the swirly brown box and pulled out one of the 3 ice creams inside, I opened the gold wrapper encasing the treat (the wrapper is even luxurious). Freezing cold, frozen air was wafting from it, and my mouth broke through this cold air and around the top of the chocolate-coated ice cream. Slowly I pressed my teeth down into the vanilla cream beneath; the chocolate cracking into several chard-like fragments as I broke the surface. The chocolate was ...

Advantages: Just delicious Disadvantages: absolutely none
The sun has in the last few days kindly popped her head out of the dark dreary grey clouds which have hovered ominously above. She has reminded us that shortly temperatures will rise and summer will finally have arrived, and with it the delights that can only best be enjoyed in such glorious conditions.
Ice Creams, and other delicious summer goodies will be on display and offer to tempt us into the vast array of confectionery delights for which ... ...along the hot dusty sandy beach can only really be enjoyed to the full if one hand has the customary Ice firmly in its grip.
There are many delights on offer and everyone no doubt has their own particular favourite, but I suspect that the one which I am reviewing today is very high on most peoples list being that it is not just Ice cream it is CHOCOLATE too.
Magnum Ice Cream was first introduced into Britain in 1987 and since has become a firm ...

Advantages: the little caramel chocolate bits Disadvantages: not the nicesnt ice cream i've tried. Poor value for money
for a choc ice. However it was coming up to Valentines Day and the chocolate flavour of Wall?sMagnum Uncovered was crying out to be bought. It also comes in classic vanilla icecream but the combination of chocolate icecream, caramel sauce, bits of chocolate and caramel all topped with a thick slab of chocolate sounded totally divine and I could not resist popping this in my trolley. The thought of Duskman and I underneath our cover eating Magnum Uncovered sure captured my imagination.
It was a totally luxurious purchase due to the price and the size of the tub. The icecream costs £2.40 for 450 mls. We tend to buy a slightly nicer class of icecream rather than a two litre value vanilla but this really did push the boat out for us. At the most this tub has four servings. A moderately hungry person could polish this tub off in one go. Is ...
