Advantages: Filling, Tasty and a Nice treat Disadvantages: A lot of hype from the box

I don't often eat ice cream but the very odd one now and again is a lovely treat, so when offered if I would like one from our local shop by a friend at work I jumped at the chance. Not knowing what I was in the mood for I simply requested something "like a magnum" and the Magnum Temptation Chocolate was what I was presented with.
Packaging / First Impressions -------------------------------------
I vaguely recall seeing an advert for this ice cream when I saw the box; a secret exotic advert detailing the unique treasure that was hidden within the fancy little cardboard box.
The ice cream comes in a 6 x 2.5 inch cardboard box that has metallic silver swirls decorating it over a lot of rich browns. "Temptation Chocolate" is written in an elegant script and for just an ice cream it feels like a little gift, which if you ask me is very clever marketing.
To get into the box you have to peel back the clear "Walls" labelled sticker that is keeping the contents locked inside. Upon getting into the box you are greeted with a very typical Magnum smell, chocolate and ice cream. Lovely!
The Actual Ice Cream ---------------------------
The ice cream itself is typical magnum size and is chocolate ice cream mixed with soft brownie pieces, drizzled with chocolate sauce and white Belgian chocolate chunks, all mixed together and coated in Belgian dark chocolate.
The shape of the actual ice cream has changed slightly to have a swoop indent in the side to make the ice cream a different shape to previous magnum offerings, and follow on the flowing elegant theme the box started.
Taste -------
On taking the first bit into the temptation chocolate I was impressed. The dark Belgian chocolate coating snapped satisfyingly and uncovered the soft ice cream / brownie / white chocolate and sauce concoctions; which were totally pleasant and not at all sickly or too sweet.
The texture of having the small brownie pieces and the white chocolate chunks, made it a little more filling than magnums previous offerings of just plain ice cream. This also made in generally more interesting to eat, as you had bigger chunks to bite, soft ice cream to melt in your mouth. I wasn't involved as much as to say it was a good "experience" eating the ice cream, but it definitely made me pay a little more attention to the ice cream in general as a product having to work out what my next plan of attack was going to be, do I bite off all the hard coating first? Nibble and find all the white chocolate pieces or just work my way down it all bit by bit? The same dilemma as Crème Eggs!
Size wise this ice cream was spot on. You get a decent amount of ice cream that you can take your time to nibble and lick through without it melting all over the place or feeling sickly and having to through the rest away.
Price / Availability ---------------------
I haven't had a Magnum ice cream in quite some time, but to my memory I recall paying around £1 for the last one I brought. This offering is a little steeper than its predecessors at around £1.30 but with inflation and fancy packaging this seemed about what I would expect.
It's available from pretty much anywhere at the moment that sells ice cream! Lucky for me!
Overall --------
I would recommend this to anyone who likes to indulge in a little ice cream now and again. It is satisfying and tasty and is certainly a little treat. The box makes it feel that little bit extra special, although not at all necessary, it is however recyclable being cardboard as opposed to the plastic wrappers most ice creams come in, which is a bonus.
The price does again make it more of a treat now and again and I wouldn't myself eat these on a regular basis.
I won't mention calories or fat here, because let's face it, who doesn't know that ice cream covered in chocolate and brownies should only be a rare treat for those of us trying to watch our weight.
Some might find the build up with the box and the presentation a little anti-climatic, but in fairness, it is just ice cream. A well presented and pretty tasty one. I cannot say I was let down at all by the ice cream itself as I was quite realistic about my expectations.
I would certainly indulge in one again in the future if I spot one somewhere without looking purposefully, as I did enjoy it and I think I would again.
Advantages: chocolate hit Disadvantages: little too chocolatey
Walls Magnum Temptation Chocolate Ice Cream..... Now even though I am on a healthy eating regime, it doesn't stop me having a treat now and again. This means that I was tempted into the half price offer I saw recently in Tesco for these Magnum Temptation Chocolate ice Creams. They were on special at £1.49p for a pack of three ice creams a price that I think is fairly reasonable for Magnums. There was a choice between the Chocolate or Caramel but ... ...the chocolate version. The wrapping on these ice creams is fairly special because they come individually house within a cardboard box making them seem very luxurious and expensive. The box is easy to open and makes sure that the ice cream inside is safe and wont get crushed easily. The ice cream itself seems slightly smaller than the regular Magnums but I think because they are loaded with so much chocolate this is perhaps a good thing. Per ice cream ...
