==Walnut Whip== Hmm okay, so I have just tried my first walnut whip and have been left a little confused, why you may ask? Well I thought the contents of it was more complex than it actually was... more

    Advantages Advantages Gorgeous fondant centre

    Disadvantages Disadvantages They're fattening!

As there are rather a large number of yummy food items in my Christmas stash I thought I would take the opportunity to review a few of them. Whilst I am very familiar with the taste of a Walnut Whip I have been absolutely forbidden by my husband to sample one for reviewing purposes, particularly as we only have two boxes! Consequently, this review is written from memory and discusses an absolutely delicious chocolate manufactured by Nestle. A LITTLE ABOUT NESTLE I was totally unaware until I carried out a little research that Nestle’s Walnut Whip has been around since 1910 and is their oldest ... more

Advantages Advantages fun to eat and tasty too

    Disadvantages Disadvantages the walnut

After reading “Toast” by Nigel Slater I quite simply had to try a Walnut Whip. I will confess that I had never tried one before. There were two reasons for this: firstly I had been unaware of their existence and secondly I do not like walnuts (my first experience of them was enough to make me wary of them and do my utmost to avoid them where possible). However over the past few months I gradually became aware of their existence by seeing the versions that Marks and Spencer’s do and by reading an article by Nigel Slater (it was in the Reader’s Digest and he admitted to eating three Walnut Whips ... more

Advantages Advantages Tastes great, creamy chocolate, light fluffy fondant filling

Disadvantages Disadvantages Chocolate doesn't compare to Galaxy or Dairy Milk, high in sugar

I was in my local Sainsbury's the other week when I decided to browse the chocolate and sweet section. I was craving something sweet but wasn't sure what exactly so I thought I would take a look to see if anything took my fancy. A blue box caught my eye which were a box of 3 Nestle Walnut Whip. I remember my dad occasionally buying the single one's of these for himself when I was a child and I always thought they looked delicious, especially the fluffy centre hidden in the middle of the chocolate. Nestle chocolate isn't a favourite of mine as I much prefer Galaxy or Dairy Milk, how-ever as I ... more

    Advantages Advantages Great chocolate and

Disadvantages Disadvantages In my case: The Walnuts!

'Walnut Whip - milk chocolate whirl with a whipped vanilla fondant cream centre and topped with a walnut' - Well that is how Nestle, the manufacturers of this product describe them. And how very accurate they are! Walnut Whips have been around for many years now. My mum often mentions of when she used to eat them when she was younger and so does my dad.! I can remember how at one time, Walnut Whips came in different packets, slightly different. If my memory serves me correct also, when the transition to the new styled wrappers took place - the size of Walnut Whips decreased in size. I also ... more

Advantages Advantages Thick chocolate, nice texture and lovely taste

Disadvantages Disadvantages None in my opinion although some might find them high in sugar

~~The Purchase~~ I decided to do a review on this what I had presumed was a long forgotten chocolate treat from the 1970's. Recently whilst in pound land I chanced up on them again, the deal being three in a box for £1. I had almost forgotten what they were like such was the time lapse since last delighting in that fluff filled chocolate type pyramid. Once home I popped them in the fridge along with the other shopping and waited for them to cool. On went the kettle and out again came the said walnut whips. Taking one gently out it took me back to my childhood, however this beauty was not ... more
