Advantages: Smooth, tangy and refreshing. What an ale! Disadvantages: A little pricey and very moreish.
...I am a huge fan of Wychwood ales and so when I saw a bottle of White Wych on sale in Sainsburys I just had to try it. The first time I tried it was the summer solstice and it seemed the perfect thing to finish off the celebration.
For those of you unfamiliar with the Wychwood Company they make real ale of outstanding quality. Wychwood's brewery is located in Witney in the Cotswolds and they use traditional methods to produce their delicious beers. They make a range of ales all year long with seasonal ales through out the year. White Wych is their summerale. The Wychwood logo is a Wych on a broomstick in gold circle with stars.
Wychwood make a range of ales including,

Advantages: A good, light summer beer. Disadvantages: A little stronger than some summer beers.
...For a week or so now we have been treated to some unusually warm weather. My mind has therefore turned away from my usual dark beers, stouts and porters to the light and sunny summerales on sale at the moment. Buoyed by my successful tastings of Fullers Discovery and Abbeydale Moonshine, I decided to try Shepherd Neame Goldings Summer Hop Ale ~ a long title for a beer!
~~~THE BREWERY.
Shepherd Neame Brewery started up way, way back in 1698. They are based in Kent, Faversham to be precise, and were founded by the Mayor of Faversham (a man named Captain Richard Marsh). Brewing has also been happening on the site since the 12th Century. The location in Kent is ideal for brewing too ~ it is one of the best hop growing counties in the UK. It isn't too much of a surprise that a brewery sprang up here!
Advantages: Light and refreshing Disadvantages: Not up to Fuller's usual standard
What can I say? I drank this beer a good few weeks ago when it was indeed summer and I've only now got round to putting pen to paper (as it were) to describe the experience. Sue me.
If the pub across the road from my local can display a Christmas tree on September 22 (I kid you not), then I can feckinwell post a review of a summerale. After all, I'm sure it's still summer somewhere anyway (I know it's not Xmas).
Where was I? Oh yes, the beer.
A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to sample a Fuller beer on draught (without visiting London and environs). An opportunity I exploited several times.
Fuller beers are brewed at the Griffin Brewery the oldest in London. It's been continuously brewed...
My dearly beloved Linksys WAP11b passed on this week. At the request of the family there were no flowers but a small celebration was held to remember a long and hard working life and the opportunity to get a new one.
