Macmillan have managed to pull off a coup here and have secured Shaun Hutson, where previously he used to write for Little, Brown & Company. This is his first novel under his new contract and things do not seem to have changed at all.
Five-year-old Becky goes missing in a crowded shopping centre but is returned safely by Adam Walker. Hailey is Becky’s mother and her marriage is turning to rubble. She wants to have an affair with Walker to ... ...to please.

Advantages: Humour as well as gore. Disadvantages: Too long
Shaun Hutson isn't exactly noted for thought-provoking, ground-breaking novels, so by his standards this is something of a departure.He even attempts something vaguely like satire!This is longer than his usual books, so the gore is a bit thinner on the ground, but it doesn't really suffer for that. I think Hutson has matured as a writer over the years. In this book he builds some fairly credible characters and they have relationships which go beyond ... ...bit plodding at times and most readers would probably have a fair idea of what's round the corner.A mother loses her child in a shopping centre, but she is brought back by an apparently charming man.Her husband has been having an affair with his secretary,and so she is tempted by the thought of having an affair to get revenge.That's when the nasty things start happening.
