Hi Folks,
Today I'm reviewing another famous product that I have tried, although I would not recommend others to try this product. The shampoo Wash & Go was launched in 1986 by the Procter and Gamble company to an applauding public. People were thrilled at the initial novelty of being able to shampoo their hair quickly with a product that claimed to condition as well. The first shampoo of it's kind. I think the novelty soon wore-off when people discovered that a 2 in 1 was not really as effective as a separate shampoo and conditioner, and also created a build-up on their hair after a while.
The shampoo comes in a 300ml light green bottle, with a flip-open cap. On it are the words 'Wash & Go' and a flashy colourful design. The front label also explains that the shampoo is a 2 in 1 product, a combined shampoo and conditioner in one. The label also tells the consumer that Wash & Go is Universal and suitable for all hair types. The bumpf on the back of the bottle says: 'Improved Wash & Go 'UNIVERSAL' formula leaves your hair fuller, clean & manageable, wash after wash.'
The instructions for usage are to massage into wet hair, lather and rinse thoroughly.
As I stated before, the manufacturer is the Procter and Gamble company, and there is a freephone telephone number should you need advice about the product; 0800 0280893. The best advice I could offer about the product is not to use it in the first place. I used this shampoo several months ago, I bought it from my local Tesco Express for about £1.89. Took it home and used it that night. The shampoo is a thick, creamy, light green liquid. The fragrance is very pleasant and difficult to describe, it smells like apples mixed with something else. It is quite a powerful fragrance and it lingers in your hair after you have washed it.
The lather produced by this product is very rich and satisfying and it rinsed from my hair quite quickly. My hair felt quite conditioned whilst it was still wet. But when it dried it did not feel quite right. It looked the same as if I had just used a regular shampoo, it did not look conditioned and it felt like there was some strange coating on it. I also noticed after a few weeks of use, that although the perfume was pleasant, it seemed to make my scalp feel rather itchy at times. The more I used the product, the more limp my hair started to get and it also started to get greasy and dirty much quicker than it had before. After a while, I started to feel a definite build-up on my hair and started to realise that these 2 in 1 shampoos are not all they are cracked up to be.
Then a friend told me one day, that 2 in 1 shampoos don't properly condition your hair. Basically the properties of cleansing and conditioning are two separate, opposing functions that cannot be combined successfully in one product. Shampoo needs to be alkaline to cleanse the hair, conditioner needs to be acidic to smooth the cuticle after shampooing. If you combine alkaline and acid, they will neutralise each other and won't do either thing. Apparently then, a 2 in 1 is just a regular shampoo with tons of silicone added to it to make the hair FEEL conditioned afterwards. Of course your hair is not really conditioned afterwards, and the tons of silicone added to the products explains the coating on my hair and the definite build-up I experienced. By the time my friend had explained this to me, my hair was lank, lifeless and looking bad.
I wondered what would strip away all the weeks of build-up, then my friend gave me a tip. She told me that when she had run out of shampoo once, she washed her hair with Fairy Liquid instead. She told me that it had left her hair really clean and shiny, so she had used it ever since. I pondered the advice. One day I woke up in the morning having used Wash & Go the morning before, I had also used some styling products as well. My hair looked like a tramp's. It was lank, greasy and horrid-looking. I grabbed the first thing I could think of to strip out the grease and build-up from many weeks of using Wash & Go.............................................Fairy Liquid. It got rid of all the mess in one quick wash. I will never, EVER be tempted to use this evil product again. It does not work and it results in greasy, grimy, chemically-coated hair. Interestingly I have continued to use Fairy Liquid to wash my hair since then, with some very good results too. Although my friend's tip sounds strange, it has always worked for me, so I shall continue to do it and have been doing it for several months now.
It also says something about Wash & Go, that I have had BETTER results from washing my hair with Fairy Liquid, than I have from using the product. I found the nearly empty bottle of Wash & Go in the bathroom the other day, so I decided to write a review for all of you. So here it is, and here's my solemn advice; STEER WELL CLEAR GUYS. I've got to throw that bottle of crap in the bin now, so I'm going. See ya.

Review of Wash & Go 2 in 1 Universal Shampoo by

Advantages: Very effective, leaves your hair looking and feeling good
Disadvantages: Can't think of any
...the qualities of ye olde Wash & Go Shampoo and Conditioner line...
The dave27 household have been converts to the W&G line up for some time now and although it feels like admitting to a girlie side I actually really like the way that it leaves your hair feeling after you've washed it.
I'd never dream (as I've already hinted I guess) at using conditioner on my hair, but the fact that you get both with W&G means you don't need to admit that you're ... ...man, ignorant? surely not...). PLUS there's a little label on the front that pronounces W&G as being an OFFICIAL PARTNER of the FA Premiership (whatever that means - presumably they both strive to rid themselves of the unwelcome soliciting of David Ginola, the girliest footie player in Blighty - never did trust the Frogs - Old Fat Boy David reminds me too much of Sacha Distel to be ranked as anything other than a pretty boy, waste of space on le ...

WASH your hair with this AND the smell wont GO
Review of Wash & Go 2 in 1 Universal Shampoo by
buttgirl
Advantages: It makes your hair smell gorgeous
Disadvantages: none at all
Wash and go has been my favourite shampoo for years now. I think this is because the smell is lovely and it always seems to me like it has the slight smell of apple in it and also a bit like flowers.
The actual shampoo is white in colour with a hint of green - this might be a bit of an odd thing to say but the smell definately matches the colour (I'm sure some of you will know what I mean)
The shampoo isn't too watery or too thick and you don't ... ...lime green in colour with Wash and go 2 in 1 conditioner and universal for all hair types written in white letters. The words wash and go are in front of something I can only describe as the shape of a comets tail (and it's blue!)
On the back of the bottle it has the same information as on the front plus directions of use (Just massage into wet hair, lather and rinse) and the ingredients.
It gives you a free-phone number to call if you have any ...

At Least It Saved Time In The Bathroom
Review of Wash & Go 2 in 1 Universal Shampoo by
Twinkle_2222
Advantages: Makes showering less time consumind
Disadvantages: Makes hair feel greasy and not very clean
...'borrow' some of my brother's Wash and Go, which was on the shelf. The smell was a bit chemically, but nothing too unpleasant, but the value for money was excellent as you don't need to pay for a seperate conditioner.
The Wash and Go lathered up really well and rinsed out easily enough. upon drying my hair felt as though there was still shampoo left in it, although I waas sure I had rinsed it thoroughly. It just didn't feel very clean.
I wouldn't ...

Do not mix!
Review of Wash & Go 2 in 1 Universal Shampoo by
Deenie
Advantages: May smell nice
Disadvantages: Doesn't really do the job.
I have tried using these wash and go hair products in the past and remain convinced that shampoo and condition were never meant to be mixed together. As I have fine hair the combination of them both together makes it go static and then it gets greasy quickly. Shampoo and condition are two seperate products, never intended to be put together for a reason. I have asked many hairdressers their opinion on these wash and go products and not one has commented ... ...seperately don't bother using the wash and go...it would probably be more beneficial to your hair to simply use a mild shampoo alone. What is the shampoo's job? To clean the dirt and styling products out of your hair. What is conditioner for? To provide each hair with a little moisture/clean grease so to speak, to protect it and keep it healthy. How can these two seperate products do their specific jobs when they are mixed together??? Common sense ...

wash and go straight to the bin!
Review of Wash & Go 2 in 1 Universal Shampoo by
jo1l
Advantages:
Disadvantages: dry hair
Wash and Go's 2in 1 shampoo and conditioner seems like a really great idea - yee I too sure all those ads! i normally use a shampoo and then a seprate conditioner so I thought this was a great way to condition your hair and save time. The 2 in 1 really seemed to dry out my hair too the extent I was using 2 in 1 then a conditioner as well which rather defeated the object! The 2 in 1 gave you a really good lather and did clean my hair well. But on ...
