We bought the JLWD 1609, manufactured by Electrolux, at the PJ sale recently. It is terrible: it destroyed our lingerie, could not be made to do a cold wash, and took 2 hours for a 30-degree wash. The default was a 60-degree boil wash. What's more, PJ is demanding a 20% restocking charge or claiming in the alternative that sale goods are non-returnable. This means that you must be able to use them for the purposes that you would normally expect from this type of product, or any purpose that you have told the seller you want to use them for." I realise this product, or at least ones similar to it, are well rated by other buyers. Advantages: dries very well and has a nice build quality
Disadvantages: none

The tumble dryer is very effective, this is our second washer/dryer and this seems to dry things very quickly. There is a very handy 60 minute 'flash clean' which we use all the time and seems to clean very well. This machine has a good build quality, the dials feel nice and solid as you turn them and the door has a satisfying locking close when you shut it. Disadvantages: unreliable, poor design for use with small pieces or clothing

Poor build quality. Had this machine for 3 years and had to use callout on warranty four times. Don't use colour catchers in this machine as they get trapped and cause the machine to flood (had this happen 4 times). Dryer has given out after 3 years (no heat) and we're looking at a replacement now. Certainly wouldn't say that Ariston goes "on and on" - for those that remember their old advert! Disadvantages: Has the life expectancy of a Mayfly. Dryer not very efficient.

...unhelpful and unsympathetic service from Hotpoint themselves. The unit broke 4 times in the first year, always the dryer at fault. the 5th time faulty was just 2 weeks after the warranty expired. Hotpoint didn't care it was the same fault and told me I had to pay £90 pounds to have their engineer fit a part under their 5-year warranty. some warranty! after much arguing they sent an engineer who wrote the machine off! they replaced it after much arguing. ... ...a fault with the door locking mechanism!! Not very impressed at all.Cannot use until an engineer comes out, !! Great when you have a floor full of dirty piles of washing. If this is what I can expect from electrolux I am not impressed at all. ... Read review
