Soap Nuts (Soapnuts) - The Environmental Detergent Have you ever thought about all the chemicals that we pour down the drain daily? What impact do they have on our environment? What does this mean for our children's future? How can we minimize the harmful chemicals we use & save the environment at the same time? Soap Nuts are the answer. What are Soap Nuts? Soap Nuts are not actually nuts at all, but berries (also known as soap berries) that grow ......which acts as a natural soap when it comes into contact with water. What can I use Soap Nuts for? The most common & easiest use of soap nuts is as a laundry detergent. Just place three or four half-shells of soap nuts in a muslin bag (provided with most soap nuts orders) and throw it in with your laundry instead of regular detergent and you are on your way to becoming environmentally friendly. Advantages: Makes clothes feel lovely Disadvantages: Where was my dosing ball?
...of my first bottle of fairy non-bio. Fairy non-bio is a liquid clothes detergent, turquoise in colour and smells really nice. Since I have started using it I have really noticed the difference. My clothes feel lovely! They feel nice when they come out of the wash and great once they have dried. I line dry (or clothes horse dry) my clothes and one thing I have noticed is that you do not get that stiff powdery feeling on the clothes once they have ......week!). I have not put fairy non bio through the rigours of baby stains and washing reusable nappies yet, however I am very confident that it will remove the stains and keep baby's skin safe. I have used it on a few of the baby items such as blankets and linen just to give them an initial wash and they have come up really soft and lovely. Maybe baby will sleep.... The only thing that I have an annoyance with is that when I bought the liquid at ASDA ... Read review
Advantages: Dissolve well Disadvantages: Don't get rid of stains very easily for the price
Having used Ariel Liquitabs before whilst they were on offer, and getting good results, I bought a pack of 20 liquitabs at full price (£4-odd). The main reason I did this was because I've recently received a massive electricity bill and wanted to cut down on bills via my washing machine by washing clothes at 30 degrees. I have always washed my clothes at 40 degrees and the results have varied quite a lot depending on what washing powder/tablets/liquitabs ......30 degree quick wash with Ariel Liquitabs. The blood didn't come out at all and I was quite disappointed as the adverts make it seem as though these tabs get rid of any stain, even on a cool wash. Also, I had a greasy cooking oil stain on a sweater recently and it took two washes to come out with these liquitabs. On the plus side, I've found that these tabs dissolve really well in a quick, cool wash. Other tablets/powder don't dissolve well in my ... Read review
Advantages: Good value, easy storage. Disadvantages: Buttons kept coming off our clothes
I really liked Persil Non Bio Small and Mighty and thought it was good value but after a few weeks of using it buttons started coming off our clothes. It started as just one or two but soon I was sewing on half a dozen buttons to various shirts each week! We couldn't work out what was going on until we realised that the only thing that had changed was our washing detergent. I reverted to Persil Non Bio Powder and since then the number of buttons ...
