... Watchdog must have been subject to complaints to them more times than any other programme I can think of and in my opinion quite rightly so. The days of Lynn Foulds Wood and her potential deathtraps are long gone. No longer will we see an ironing board that could chop a carrot in half when ... Read review

Who watches the Watchdog

AdvantagesCharlotte and sometimes the intentions are good.

DisadvantagesSloppy research

"...actually the broadcasting standards commission. Watchdog must have been subject to complaints to them more times than any other programme I can think of and in my opinion quite rightly so. The days of Lynn Foulds Wood and her potential deathtraps are long gone. No longer will we see an ironing board that could chop a carrot in half when it was folded or a child’s toy that when the head was pulled off (by Geoff Capes or some other strongman ..." Read review

Watch A Dog

AdvantagesEastenders usually follows

DisadvantagesAppauling ratings-hungry witch!

"...say that the predecessor to Watchdog was "That's Life" - who also picked up on consumer issues. However their reports were far more balanced - and they also carried good news stories about firms that had given good service. Clearly these don't give the ratings that Ms. Robinson requires to bolster her ego. The BBC should not put its name to this programme, especially as it is now seeking to increase its income more and more through commercial ventures ..." Read review

Oi that could have your eye out

AdvantagesGood investigations into corporate nasties

DisadvantagesNone

"Watchdog, Anne Robbinson, Charlotte flaunting her chest and naughty companies put on the spot. Yes every week, those companies that fail the consumer and there are a lot of them are investigated and their shoddy performance is laid bare in front of the nation, or those that are watching anyway. The investigations are good, go get em I say. Computer companies, ISP's, shoddy kitchens they have all been had. Then after the investigation, Anne ..." Read review

An amazing show for such a boring topic

AdvantagesVery funny, Ann is particularly intimidating

DisadvantagesNone

"...that last statement actually is. Watchdog is full of information and is a really useful programme for someone wishing to find out the value for money, reliability or durability of any product. The show is hosted by Ann Robinson (of the Weakest Link fame) and she proves to be just as evil and patronising to the people who come on the show as the quiz show. She is always inquisitive and demands to know why certain products have been released without ..." Read review

Good for harrassing companies

Advantagesgets to the bottom of problems

Disadvantagesnone really

"...reply from the company. The watchdog team then looks at the case, decide whether it’s worth pursuing, and then if it is they are on the case. They really do make a difference, not to the person they have helped but to others at home who watch the programme and have suffered the same problem. I myself have written in a few times and have received a watchdog postcard saying that if they feel the problem that I have faced comes up again, ..." Read review
