Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Worse than money for no cover, makes you think you have cover whilst the problem gets worse!

HomeServe plumbing and drainage cover advertises a two hour response time. After a month, more than five hours on the phone, two days off work, and hours writing letters asking what was going on, HomeServe decided that my policy did not cover the leaking tank in the attic. I had been able to tell them exactly what the problem was on day one. This was despite (eventually) two engineers who eventually came and said that it would be 'no problem'. ...
...wait a couple of weeks for the second. Both had to be provided with ladders and the first did not even carry a torch, all this for a well-described leaky tank in an attic. Over the month I have been promised dozens of call backs that never materialised and had to find out myself after nearly a further week of silence that they had decided I was not covered.
