Drink with a Doidy
Advantages: An easy way to introduce your baby to drinking from a cup Disadvantages: You really need a wetsuit on
...cry. Well it’s a Doidy cup. I do wish Ciao could have chosen a picture of a nicer coloured one for the display!
*** What is it? ***
It’s a cup that has been especially designed in the UK on a slant to encourage babies to drink from the rim of a cup. I was recommended to try it from my health visitor who thinks they are great as in the early days of weaning my son just wouldn’t drink. Okay, so I was rather optimistic and naive thinking that the ... ...it no problem at all. As I was using the Avent bottles, I just got the 3-month feeder cup attachments to use the bottle. My son had other ideas. Looking back now, I was really silly thinking that he would drink from a valved mouthpiece at 4 months even though he’d hardly even used a teat with him being breastfed. *** What’s the history behind it? ***
The cup is made by Bickiepegs, some of you may remember the Bickiepeg teethers which have recently ...

From bottle to cup - so easily!
Advantages: Mix & Match with Avent bottles, no spills Disadvantages: heavier than bottle, so more difficult for baby to hold
...they can fit on existing Avent bottles. So i got my daughter used to holding her bottle using the Cup handles. I also began giving her the cup spout with the bottle body so it didn't look like a completely new thing. The cup however is a bit heavier than the bottles, so she sometimes has difficulty holding the cup and drops it easily. She is only 9 months so hopefully she will get better with this.
Cleaning out the cup can be a little tiresome because ... ...is suitable for the dishwasher. It can be sterlised by all the usual methods, including microwave, though i only sterilise it after I have used it for milk, not water.
I have 2 magic cups, one is the smaller size 7oz/200ml and the bigger one is 9oz/260ml.
Another little niggle is that you can't mix formula in the cup because it will interfere with the valve. I therefore mix the formula somewhere else and have to transfer it to the cup.
The cup ...

cow and gate milk too rich for baby's tummy
Advantages: slightly cheaper than some Disadvantages: too rich for delicate tummies
...i'd heard of. Cow and Gate is one of th ebetter known baby milk formulas but it isn't the best on the market.
Midwives tend to recommend the use of Aptimal as it's the closest to breast milk.
When we used this formula my baby ended up very sick. She brought it straight back up and it wasn't a pretty sight!
Upon speaking to others about this it turned out that a lot of people had had the same experience and so had changed milk to SMA or Aptimal. ... ...to it's richness. Cow and Gate formulas vary from first stage, second stage, follow on milk, hungry baby milk etc. They are sold in large tubs which provide information on the side as to how to make up feeds. Making up a feed is simple with one scoop of feed per ounce of boiled water. It also has a table which suggests how much your baby should be drinbking due to the age and weight of your baby which is useful to see and saves you from having to ...

A great way to protect your little uns from the sun
Advantages: easily rubbed in, high factor. Disadvantages: pricey
...an orange nozzle and the Garnier logo on the front. The nozzle has a plastic cap which you pop on to ensure it doesn't leak. It is easy to use. How easy it is to apply?
It's very easy to rub in and get to all places on the skin. It doesn't take long for it to be fully rubbed in.
What does it smell like?
It is fragrance free!
Is it water proof?
It is water resistant although it would be advisable to reapply some after going in the water to maintain ... ...much is it?
It's available from chemists and supermarkets and varies in price depending on offers. USually a bottle of 200ml is around £8 Is it good value for money?
You do use a lot of if so a bottle doesn't last that long if you are on holiday so applying it frequently, however, it works really well and can you put a price on health? ...

Looking for a more funky baby bib?
Advantages: Stylish, quick to dry, something different Disadvantages: More expensive than other bibs
A friend tipped me off about these bibs when I was complaining that I couldn't find *anything* without Winnie-the-Pooh prints and other babyish styles for my 5 month old daughter.
They are of course only baby bibs but as a style conscious Mum (or so I like to think!!) I wanted a bib that was good enough to show off when out and about. The bib is basically made of fleece with a nylon backing. It also fastens with a snap press rather than velcro making ... ...older.
What makes these bibs different in my opinion is the choice of colours - they are not the usual insipid baby combinations of lemon and mint. I've only got 3 but they really are all I've used for the past 7 months on my daughter - they are so quick to dry as they are made of fleece.
I got mine from www.whoops-a-daisy.co.uk but I think they are available through other outlets.
Only disadvantage is the inital cost of £3.50 per bib although ...
