Drink with a Doidy

Advantages: An easy way to introduce your baby to drinking from a cup
Disadvantages: You really need a wetsuit on

...cry. Well it’s a Doidy cup. I do wish Ciao could have chosen a picture of a nicer coloured one for the display! *** What is it? *** It’s a cup that has been especially designed in the UK on a slant to encourage babies to drink from the rim of a cup. I was recommended to try it from my health visitor who thinks they are great as in the early days of weaning my son just wouldn’t drink. Okay, so I was rather optimistic and naive thinking that the ...
...it no problem at all. As I was using the Avent bottles, I just got the 3-month feeder cup attachments to use the bottle. My son had other ideas. Looking back now, I was really silly thinking that he would drink from a valved mouthpiece at 4 months even though he’d hardly even used a teat with him being breastfed. *** What’s the history behind it? *** The cup is made by Bickiepegs, some of you may remember the Bickiepeg teethers which have recently ...

From bottle to cup - so easily!

Advantages: Mix & Match with Avent bottles, no spills
Disadvantages: heavier than bottle, so more difficult for baby to hold

...they can fit on existing Avent bottles. So i got my daughter used to holding her bottle using the Cup handles. I also began giving her the cup spout with the bottle body so it didn't look like a completely new thing. The cup however is a bit heavier than the bottles, so she sometimes has difficulty holding the cup and drops it easily. She is only 9 months so hopefully she will get better with this. Cleaning out the cup can be a little tiresome because ...
...is suitable for the dishwasher. It can be sterlised by all the usual methods, including microwave, though i only sterilise it after I have used it for milk, not water. I have 2 magic cups, one is the smaller size 7oz/200ml and the bigger one is 9oz/260ml. Another little niggle is that you can't mix formula in the cup because it will interfere with the valve. I therefore mix the formula somewhere else and have to transfer it to the cup. The cup ...

Magic-up, down and thrown all around!

Advantages: Versatile, durable and easy to clean
Disadvantages: I've found none.

...that's when I discovered the Avent magicup Range Avent Magicup With Handles- Now most of the Magicups do come with handles, the larger sportster version has a single belt clip style handle for the more nimble fingered and dextrous toddler, but the regular Magicups have 2 handles making it easier for younger children to hold firmly and drink from on their own without mummy or daddy helping. The regular (non sportser) cups come in 2 age groups 6months ...

The cups come with several parts- the main cup, the detachable handles, a clear cap, the unscrew lid and the removable spout. The spouts feature a clear latex style valve which regulates the flow of the drink, it is this valve which helps strengthen the sucking motion but also stops any ...

Great first cup, non-spill, with room for improvement.

Advantages: Non-spill, has interchangeable handles for CTN Bottles.
Disadvantages: Non-secure safety lid.

...I have been using the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles since my first baby, and I was extremely frustrated I couldn't find handles to fit them, like Avent have for their bottles and cups. I wanted to encourage my daughter to self-feed herself a bit more, but she couldn't get a grip on the bottles. Now I have 2 of the cups and it's great to get the handles onto the bottles so she can drink her milk by herself! Very handy if you are rushing around ...
...cups themselves are very good, I have encountered however a couple of niggling issues. Nothing to put me off them, but definitely things that could use improvement in my mind. ic To start with, the lid is tricky to get on, and does not stay on well. This is the clear safety lid that goes over the spout, not the cup lid with the spout itself. It is shaped with a "bubble" to fit on top of the spout, which makes putting it on a bit faffy, it won't snap ...

A great way to give you baby treats safely

Advantages: Can give you baby all kinds of fruit & treat without fear of choking
Disadvantages: Can be a bit hard to clean depending on what fruit had been in it

When I was first told about this product I thought it would be a bit of a waste of time so never bothered getting one, then on day my little girl swallowed a bit of pear whole and started to choke, this frightened me and I didn't want it to happen again so I went online and purchased on of these feeders straight away. This item is a very simple idea; you have a white handle which is quite chunky and very easy for a baby to hold, this has a green ...
...of the net, you can then put any kind of fruit or treat in the net, screw the green base back to the white handle and there you are a nice safe baby feeder. I only tend to put fruit in mine (grapes, banana, apple, pear etc), it does say you can put biscuits in it but I don't think they would be very easy to eat through the net. This net teaches you baby to chew so it's a great idea if you are moving on from puree food to mashed, it also prevents ...
