Somebody to watch over me
Review of Logitech Quickcam For Notebooks Pro by
Popalee
Advantages: small, good resolution, includes microphone
Disadvantages: fiddly, can only be used on a notebook or flatscreen
OK, let me start by explaining that I am no techy, so this review is designed more for those people like me who just think it's kinda cool to be able to see and be seen by friends and family. If you are looking for the more technical details of this webcam, try another review :-)
Packaging
-----------------
I'm including this section because I think these days it's important to be an envirnomentally aware consumer and take into account the amount ... ...on this score, coming as it does in an excess of plastic. Seems the packaing is designed to show off the webcam when on display. It's even worse if you buy it over the internet- I did and it came in a huge box, filled with polystyrene. I swore from that day on I would never again purchase anything online (unfortunately I haven't kept to this as well as I should but I digress)
What's included

Of course, you get the camera, ...

Logitech Quickcam Sphere
Review of Logitech Quickcam Sphere by
faultymonkey5894
Advantages: Probely a webcam 1st, good quality, nice zoom/tilt etc
Disadvantages: Drivers are a pain, face tracking isn't as good as hoped
...easiest place is probely the Logitech website. The face tracking does work, but it does get a bit confused when another person comes in and it trys to follow them at the same time. The zoom is impressive and the movement is good. It comes with an extra stand (9 inch) which you can use to get a different view of you beaming face, it is really easy to change, just pull out the camera top and attach it to the stick. It has a little control panel that ... ...to move it and zoom and it also has a large "reset" button that makes the camera turn back to its straight on view. There is a small microphone in the base of the camera that is very good quality and is very useful on msn with voice conversations. The camera costs around £70, but it hasn't gone down in price a lot since I bought one (about a year ago). It is a good camera, but it is slightly on the expensive side so it is only good if you want a really ...

Basically its a pretty basic camera.
Review of Logitech Quickcam Web by
tony_k
Advantages: built in mic, relatively cheap now, easy to use
Disadvantages: bad picture quality, slow
For anyone who just wants a simple webcamera that is pretty cost effective then the quickcam web would be a good option.
I got it a few years ago when it cost me about £55 but now ive seen it for about £25 in pc world so as cameras go its cheap enough. Its got a number of abilities, taking still pictures (you can use the button on top but be careful not to take a picture of your wrist, i prefer to just use the software and click the onscreen button) ... ...friends and family the world round as attachments. You can also use it as some sort of security device as it has motion capture built into the software, though personally i think this is more of a gimmic than a useful feature unless you want lots of pictures of your cat.
Due to the fact that it has a built in microphone you are all set up for video conferencing straight away. I personally use it to talk to my various friends around the world via ...

Not for everyone
Review of Logitech Quickcam Orbit by
zobo77
Advantages: Move it without having to move yourself, good quality
Disadvantages: Mine wont spin round anymore
...Compatibility with Vista ~
Logitech claims that this webcam is compatible with Windows 2000 and XP. I have used this camera on XP and it worked fine, when I had to get Vista, I installed the webcam, and some software was downloaded automatically from the Internet which allowed the webcam to work. The software is very similar, although there are some minor lighting options which were available on the XP software that aren't in the Vista software. ... ...~ Movement ~
When the software is installed, there is a QuickCam panel which is automatically opened when the camera is in use, this contains buttons which allow you to move the camera view left, right, up and down, and there is also a face tracking option, although I didn't find this very successful as it ended up following the curtain behind me. When I moved the curtain out of the way, it followed me well, but it was inconvenient as the light ...

Good entry level web cam.
Review of Logitech Quickcam Pro by
PJHilder
Advantages: Build quality, Good picture, Built in Mic, Can be used with a camera tripod.
Disadvantages: Picture quality suffers in low light.
This came to me as a prize from a well known UK internet magazine. However I feel I would have still bought this web cam had I needed to purchase it.
***Build quality and features***
The cam is well made and has stood up to much abuse. Atheistic wise its silver and dark grey features, coupled with its bulbous eye make it look like a proper web cam. One nice feature is the camera will fit on either the enclosed two stands for desktop and laptop ... ...with an old tripod to get some extra flexibility on where I positioned the cam. The cable that attaches the cam to a USB port can be a bit inflexible at times making it hard on occasion to position the cam exactly. There is a focus ring on the front and a button on top to take an instant picture and a built in mircophone.
***Installation***
Installation was easy enough. Make sure you install the software first then after it has rebooted plug the ...
