Some of the units are quite large to store when not in use, so you do need to think about how much space you have to store the unit when not in use. We checked the available storage space in the garage and garden shed and decided we could accommodate one of the larger units.
I wasn’t sure if I should go for a low end barbeque that would give us may be one or two years service or a quality product that would last 10 years or more.
From an ethical / environmental perspective I dislike the idea of products which only last one or two uses or which really can’t be repaired or modified. We went around Homebase, B&Q and our local garden centre. The big chains had a good selection of models but didn’t carry all the accessories. The local independent garden centre on the other hand was a little more expensive but actually had a really good selection and all of the accessories.

On this model you can just push the lid to the side and it neatly wraps under one of the edges. The frame that holds the kettle also has a high quality tabletop, which is useful next to where you are cooking. The kettledrum is finished in a high quality black porcelain enable, which is guaranteed for 10 years. The charcoal grate and cooking platform are solid and heaver on their own than some of the lower end units!
The unit came in a very large and heavy box. It just fit into the back of an Audi A3 with the rear seats forwards. Don’t try and lift the box on your own, it’s certainly a two person job.
Getting the box home and opening it I was very impressed with how well it had been packaged. The instruction and assembly guides were on top. The instructions are in several languages and I found no problem following the English version.
To put this together you’ll need a screwdriver, spanner or pliers and a hammer. They seem to have given assembly some serious thought and made it a very user friendly. It took us about 20 minutes to put this together and the result is a very robust and steady barbeque.
The two large wheels make it easy to move around on grass and gravel and steady in use.
Getting this barbeque lit is simple enough. There is a good adjustable vent at the bottom and top of the unit, which allows you to get a good draft going to get it lit.
It was pleasing to see that Webber do a good range of accessories and spares such as replacement wheels and a useful rapid light chimney which they say will get the coals up to temperature in 20 to 30 minutes. This will probably be one of the first additions I buy and will report back when I know what it’s like in practice.
They also sell covers which are specific to the model but at about £45 they seem a bit expensive but may be worth it to keep the unit in good condition.
Overall I would certainly recommend this unit to anyone looking for a good quality barbeque that they want to get many years use out of.
Advantages: Mobile, even heat all round Disadvantages: stability on rough ground, various safety issues
It is definitely a barbeque but having used one of these for a couple of years I have found that it does the job but unspectacularly. Let me explain.
Construction
The Barbeque is sturdy enough. It sits well on any uneven surface due to its tripod system which makes it good for lawns in the back garden. However the ‘third’ leg on mine continually popped out every time I moved it which meant the small silver tray underneath kept falling out and I ... ...worked out what the tray is for – too small for utensils and far too dirty for food as the ash falls from above.
Cooking Area.
For a family of three this is fine but don’t bother inviting anyone else around as there is not enough room to cook more than three meals at a time. The cooking area itself was very well heated and didn’t suffer from ‘cool’ spots which I think is due to its circular shape. I have to say it was a joy to cook on but I needed ...

Advantages: Good Entry Level Weber Disadvantages: Open Ash Catcher
The Weber One Touch Silver is pretty much the entry level range of Weber 's BBQ range. I have bought one of these barbecues from www.dawsonsdepartmentstore.co.uk and it came with a free Weber BBQ cover. Weber have called this bbq "One Touch" as inside the bbq are blades which can be turned, using a handle on the outside, to push ash through holes in the base of the bbq into the ash catcher. Thus the One Touch Cleaning system. The difference between ... ...guests if its windy. The Weber One Touch Gold has an enclosed Ash Catcher, ash cannot escape and can be emptied after a couple of barbecues.
The quality of the bbq is without doubt the best I have had, they are more expensive than other barbecues but the shiny black porcelain enamel still looks as good as it did when I built it at the start of the summer even though its rained constantly. The bbq I ordered came from www.dawsonsdepartmentstore.co.uk ...

Advantages: nice design, easy to move, large grill, very robust and well made Disadvantages: can't vary the height of the grill
I have one of these BBQ's and it's served us well over the years. I am a firm believer that a successful BBQ experience is 75% down to the 'chef' and 25% on the design/shape/performance of the BBQ. Lets face it, you're only heating food on a grill above hot coals - you get the same result regardless of how much the BBQ cost, what it looks like, who made it etc.
If you're a die hard BBQer then I suspect you'll have/need a gas BBQ as they do produce ... ...fun of a BBQ is lighting the fire, waiting for the coals to burn and even experimenting with different woods and coals to get different flavoured smoke into your food. So for me, a coal BBQ wins.
This particular BBQ is a nice design, shape and size and has been the benchmark for all BBQ's for years. It is easy to move around due to the wheels and side handles. You can even move it when it's hot if you're careful because the handles don't get hot.

Advantages: good quick cooked food, smokes your meat well, easy to use Disadvantages: non adjustable grill, rare risk of hot coals dropping on your leg from the bottom of the BBQ
...view, i always use the Weber One Touch Silver BBQ! It can be long lasting for at least three or four years, and it is easy to clean and easy to put away for non BBQ seasons! It has a lid with an adjustable vent to control the amount of smoke and heat, and the same thing on the bottom of the BBQ. This can also be useful to use as a heat source on cold summer nights with your friends at a party in stead of a camp fire and it is much more safer than ...

Advantages: The best, works brilliantly, good selection of spares and accessories Disadvantages: None
The Weber One touch is quit esimply the Daddy of charcoal BBQs!
Ok, so let's start with quality. The Weber is very well made, fits together superbly and is really solid when assembled. There is a certain weight about the parts (except for those that are non coroding aluminium, obviously!) which just gives you a reassuring feeling. A real upside to the Weber though is the availability of spare parts and accessories. My dad has had one for over 10 ... ...key to cooking with the Weber is to remember that it's a kettle BBQ and you are supposed to cook with the lid on - a small central pile of charcoal is normally enough rather than a covering the entire bottom with coals. Using this method you cook the food well, and consistently throughout!
Cleaning the charcoal out is pretty easy - there is a little handly that you move from side to side so the ash falls into a collecting try which you can then ...
