Feeling Hot Hot Hot

Advantages Mobile, even heat all round
Disadvantages stability on rough ground, various safety issues
It is definitely a barbeque but having used one of these for a couple of years I have found that it does the job but unspectacularly. Let me explain.
ConstructionThe Barbeque is sturdy enough. It sits well on any uneven surface due to its tripod system which makes it good for lawns in the back garden. However the ‘third’ leg on mine continually popped out every time I moved it which meant the small silver tray underneath kept falling out and I had to put the thing together again. Still haven’t worked out what the tray is for – too small for utensils and far too dirty for food as the ash falls from above.
Cooking Area. For a family of three this is fine but don’t bother inviting anyone else around as there is not enough room to cook more than three meals at a time. The cooking area itself was very well heated and didn’t suffer from ‘cool’ spots which I think is due to its circular shape. I have to say it was a joy to cook on but I needed a second BBQ to keep stuff warm while I cooked it all up.
CleaningA continual problem with all BBQ’s and no different here. The circular shape of the grill means that it is just as difficult to clean as a rectangular one. To remove the ashes and suicidal sausages that accumulate in the bottom, this BBQ has a nifty rotating handle removal system which ensures that hot ash falls through holes in the base onto the silver tray (I guess that’s what it is there for). This could be a potential safety problem if you have children nearby. Its also very messy but it is better than tipping the whole thing upside down to clean out.
SafetyThe entire BBQ gets hot. I know that is stating the obvious but sometimes it needs to be said. Anyone using a BBQ and that is any BBQ should not leave them unattended at all, especially with this model as the entire ‘globe’ section gets hot and it is at the right (or wrong) height for small children. The tripod leg design although stable on flat surfaces allows it to be used on rough ground and does mean that it can be unstable if knocked. Needs firm positioning on the ground before it is lit.
Summary. If you are a small family and you enjoy good barbeques then this is the BBQ for you. It is well constructed if you can sort the falling leg issue and it heats nicely all round. As with all BBQs it needs constant attention to stop the kids from frying themselves on the thing.
