Advantages: VERSATILE AND CAN OVEN COOK Disadvantages: nothing that a glove couldn't fix...... Charcoal is dirty
...I have had a Weber-Stephens BBQ Grill for almost 15 years now and despite hubbies urge to go buy a fancier gas BBQ ( Boys and their Toys comes to mind), I still insist on my basic Weber. Although a gas BBQ might be cleaner and slightly easier to use, it pales in my eyes to the versatility of the underestimated basic Weber which is paramount I feel. It is more than a BBQ. Weber itself has now gone upmarket with large gas BBQ's but the more simpler Weber Kettle BBq with its dome lid is unbeatable on price. The sizes are aprox 47cm and 57cm cooking area. All come with the air vented lid with air vents underneath. All are made of rust proof outers so even without a plastic allweather cover these rarely, if ever rust, when left outside unlike other types. Although large they are easily portable having three legs which attach underneath...

Advantages: Superb results, Easily moved around, lots of accessories Disadvantages: Grill size / shape - means it's difficult to fit in the sink to clean
...varying features:
Included in the Gold are:
* Ash Collecter - The main reason I bought the Gold Weber!!! One simple movement and all the ash is scrapped into the can beneath, making it really simply to remove, empty and reattach - FANTASTIC!
* Wide wall tyres - Great for moving about over gravel or up and down steps
* A grilling tray with folding sides - Great for adding more coals underneath - but I find them a bit of a pain when you're trying to scrub the grill as they keep wanting to fold up(!)
* 10 Year Guarentee!!!!! (I know someone that's had a weber for nearly 20 years and have never had a problem with it!)
* Side Coal holders - so you can push the coal to the side and cook by an "indirect" method, i.e. a chicken in the middle. (I've never used these so can't really comment...

Advantages: Built to last Disadvantages: More expensive - but worth it.
...product that would last 10 years or more.
From an ethical / environmental perspective I dislike the idea of products which only last one or two uses or which really can’t be repaired or modified. We went around Homebase, B&Q and our local garden centre. The big chains had a good selection of models but didn’t carry all the accessories. The local independent garden centre on the other hand was a little more expensive but actually had a really good selection and all of the accessories.
We went for the Weber One Touch Platinum after looking seriously at the Outback models. We really liked the kettledrum design and the integrated ash collection tray. There are lower priced models of the Weber but what is really good about the Platinum version is the integrated holder for the lid. On this model you can just push the lid to the side...

I have always been adamant that I do not like barbecued food.
My previous experiences had been charcoaled sausages - black on the outside, raw in the middle. All other food crisp with a charred flavoured seasoning. YUCK!

It is definitely a barbeque but having used one of these for a couple of years I have found that it does the job but unspectacularly. Let me explain.
Construction
The Barbeque is sturdy enough. It sits well on any uneven surface due to its tripod more
