Advantages VERSATILE AND CAN OVEN COOK

Disadvantages nothing that a glove couldn't fix...... Charcoal is dirty

I have had a Weber-Stephens BBQ Grill for almost 15 years now and despite hubbies urge to go buy a fancier gas BBQ ( Boys and their Toys comes to mind), I still insist on my basic Weber. Although a gas BBQ might be cleaner and slightly easier to use, it pales in my eyes to the versatility of the underestimated basic Weber which is paramount I feel. It is more than a BBQ. Weber itself has now gone upmarket with large gas BBQ's but the more simpler Weber Kettle BBq with its dome lid is unbeatable on price. The sizes are aprox 47cm and 57cm cooking area. All come with the air vented lid with air vents underneath. All are made of rust proof outers so even without a plastic allweather cover these rarely, if ever rust, when left outside unlike other types. Although large they are easily portable having three legs which attach underneath, two with wheels and a nice handle for easy moving.
Unlike most, the Weber can also be used as a conventional oven all year round to cook Roast joints of meat, roast potatoes, vegetables, stews, casseroles, chili and the list is endless. One takes 17 (do not ask me why 17 but it seems to work well) pieces of charcoal, place either side of the grill pan and light. Place what it is you wish to cook in an oven proofed with lid vessel, place in the center of the BBQ and close the lid and leave to cook for a couple of hours. One would say but Ughh Sunday roast tasting like charcoal but that’s not the case at all. By using an oven roasting pan with a lid, all Smokey flavors are eliminated. All those hard to cook pieces of meat that take forever in the oven to cook and still end up tough, do nicely out on the BBQ by just adding a little water to the pot and left to cook for a couple of hours and the result is a juicy tender piece of meat that almost falls apart in your mouth. If you live in a warm house or like me cannot abide putting the oven on when the weather warms just a few degrees with the family all complaining and fed up to high heavens of burgers and sausages, gagging for a roast Chicken then the Weber is the BBQ for you. Of course lets not forget that its much cheaper to use that a conventional oven just proves that there are BBQ’sand then there is the supreme of them all……. The versatile Weber-Stephens. Webers although originally an American made BBQ can be bought virtually all over the UK now, but primarily from good DIY or gardening centers. John Lewis also stock Webers and accessories.
