I had to buy some new scales as the ones I had before had stopped working. After browsing the shop for a while I came across the WeightWatchers Scales model WW43U. Looking very stylish and reasonably priced I made my choice.

*FEATURES*

- Measures body weight in 1 3/4 oz / 0.05kg and body fat in 0.1% increments
- Choice of measurements in Stone / Lb / Kg
- Weighs up to 27st / 380 lb / 172Kg
- Displays start, last and goal weight to assist with weight loss
- 2 person memory
- Central positioning indicator
- Large 1 1/2" / 38mm LCD Display
- Optional carpet feet included
- Battery included (9V )

*PACKAGING*

Comes in a nice strong box wrapped in a plastic bag and placed in a molded cardboard inner. It is very easy to access, and apart from the plastic bag it is all recyclable.

*EASE OF USE*

It does come with a rather small instruction booklet, but it does show you the basics of setting up and how to use. I did find the instructions a bit repetitive, but the information was all there.

First you need to input your personal details, Height, Age and Gender. This was fairly straight forward. You can even put in a pass code to keep your data private, but with only 2 Users able to save their data it seemed a bit pointless. 4 or 5 Users would have been a lot better.

After that you can input a Fitness Level, these range from L1 - Obese to L5 Highly Active. They recommend using L3 - Average, for beginners. Then, once you have inputted your fitness level all your details are confirmed. If you make a mistake it can be changed at this point.

Then it's time to step on the scales. There is a leveller indicator which lets you know if you are on the centre of the scales correctly. Your weight will not show unless you are stood on them properly. There is a switch underneath the scales to change from Stone (ST), Kilograms (Kg) or Pounds (Lb).

Once you have got your weight you can press SET which sets your start weight if you want to check your weight loss progress in the future. Although these scales can be used without needing to do this, it is a great idea if you are trying to lose weight. After your Start weight is set it gives you a Goal weight, which depending on your height and age takes off about 10% of your weight. (Saying you weigh 10st it will give you a goal weight of 9st.)

After your weight has been set, the next time you step on the scales it will measure your Body Fat, Body Fat Ratio, Body Water and then your BMI, (Body Mass Index). This can be very useful information in trying to help you get back to a healthy weight or even just maintaining a healthy weight. The instruction booklet gives you information on each measurement and will give you a table of the expected measurements for different types of people.

For Example

- Body Mass Index
Range - Women - Men
Underweight - Less than 19.1 - Less then 20.7
Ideal weight - 19.1-25.8 - 20.7-26.4

etc.....

The Body Water Percentage is also helpful is it lets you know if you need to increase your fluid intake. They recommend a % of 50-55 for women, 60-65 for men and 65-75 for children.

The scales come with extra feet for use on carpets, and recommend a carpet thickness of no greater than 10mm for more precise measurements. Although the measurements are very precise I have seen scales with slightly more precise measuring increments. But these are more than precise for use with most people.

*SUMMARY*

These scales are ideal for anyone attempting to lead a healthier lifestyle, but are equally handy as normal weighing scales. All you need to do is put some pressure on the glass then wait for the 0.0 to come up.

I think these scales are very stylish, being circular instead of the normal square. I do find however that the LCD Display is a bit small, and when you are using it for the first time and you don't know the order of what the measurements are, it is almost impossible to read without bending down to take a closer look. I suggest you write the order down as there are quite a few measurements to remember. The actual weight measurements are of a good size though. It's just the other symbols that you need to read. The buttons are of an O.K size, not too small. And the glass design makes them quite easy to clean. The scales also have a 10 Year guarantee.

I bought these scales from Comet and paid £34.99. Very reasonable for the amount of features you are getting. And I would recommend these to anyone.

Please let me know if you would like any more information.

Thanks
