The Weight Watchers cheese itself had a very pleasant taste; not too strong but not too mild either. It had a slightly creamy taste to it, and seemed to resemble more of an edam than a cheddar! Its pale shade went well with the variety of thick and thin strands, and provided a fantastic texture! Although dry, it was not at all sticky or too chewy!

I used to be a complete cheese addict, especially when I was younger; I'd eat it almost daily! More recently though, I decided to remove it completely from my diet as I was uneasy with eating the extremely fattening dairy product. I was over the moon though when I discovered Weight Watchers manufactured their own Cheddar, and felt sure I was ready to introduce cheese back into my life!
***** Weight Watchers do Mature Cheddar Cheese in both a block, and ready grated in a pack. I decided to try it grated (I find it lasts longer this way therefore getting more for your money). The packet itself holds 200g of cheese, with a little window so you can peer inside to view the product. The grated cheese appeared to be quite dusty and powdery, unlike other cheese, which can often be wiry and stick together. This definitely looked appealing to me and was certainly worth a try!
I hadn't had a cheese and beetroot sandwich in such a long time; one of my favourites too, so I took this opportunity to sample my new-found cheese. I weighed out the recommended portion size of 40g, discovering that this was quite a hearty amount of filling to wedge in between my brown bread. Laying it out evenly, I popped on a few slices of beetroot and closed it up, cutting it in half. Sitting at the table, I was ready to eat!
There wasn't much of a scent emerging from my sandwich, so it was impossible to make an immediate judgement. As I picked up a half to take a bite, it was to my disappointment when most of the filling came tumbling out back onto my plate. I suppose this happened for two reasons; I did not use margarine or spread so my bread was dry, and the cheese itself was quite dry and crumbly - very loose too! Nevertheless, I scooped my cheese back up and titled the sandwich slightly before taking a bite. Not having had cheese in such a long time, this sensation was heavenly; made me realise just how much I had missed the glorious taste! The Weight Watchers cheese itself had a very pleasant taste; not too strong but not too mild either. It had a slightly creamy taste to it, and seemed to resemble more of an edam than a cheddar! Blended with the beetroot, my cheese made a superb sandwich, definitely a filling I will be enjoying again!

Nutrition
Straight away, I expect Weight Watchers products to be low in this and higher in that; helping to get a steady and healthy diet. I was not surprised when I studied the contents of the packet a little closer!100g of cheese provides; 166 calories 0.2g carbohydrates (0.1g sugars) 2.3g fat (1.7g saturates)
The main added ingredients include; potato starch, colour (beta-carotene).
The low carbohydrates quite shocked me, I never expected it to be so low! And as for the fat, well on the back of the pack it states that a typical non-dietary cheddar cheese contains 34g fat per 100g, so I'd say Weight Watchers have made this pretty splendid!
Weight Watchers
Weight Watchers is a world wide company, which not only offers help and support for dieters and those trying to slim or just eat healthy, but they also provide a wide range of food products for everybody to enjoy! Weight Watchers holds local meetings throughout the UK for members to attend for that little extra help and support, but also provides plenty of information on the internet, as well as producing a variety of books and magazines, which are all crammed with top tips and hints! They have a points system, rather than counting calories. This makes it easier to calculate how much you can eat in a day! Like myself, not everybody who enjoys Weight Watchers products needs them - they are suitable for anybody! They often provide a much healthier alternative, which is probably the reason why I personally choose to use them, but they also have a wide variety of foods available, many of which simply taste much nicer! Though, I can imagine for those who do require these products for weight loss, I can only assume they work!
