I first encountered Bepanthen nappy care ointment when I found a (tiny) free sample of it in the Bounty Pack I received during my stay in hospital following the birth of my daughter. I remember that it wasn?t the ONLY nappy cream sample in the bag, and I thought ?Why have they given me this stuff, she?s only 2 days old, and anyway, couldn?t they have put something a bit more exciting in here??. I shoved the samples in a drawer when I eventually got home from the hospital, and promptly forgot all about them.
A few months later, our daughter started teething, and her bottom suddenly became very sore indeed. We started off using Sudocrem and, although that stuff IS great and certainly has its uses, it just wasn?t getting the job done on this occasion. This Fucidin H Ointment is available on prescription only but works wonders for skin conditions such as eczema. And, after applying it for just a day or so, results were great.
It contains Fucidic acid as an anti-biotic which helps prevent or control any infection and unwanted bacteria which can lead to continual skin problems in some of us.
It also contains the steriod hydrocortisone, which would help to relieve, heal and reduce inflamation which can often be the main problem. This is used more so for treatment in events of allergic reactions so is often issued seperately in another type of cream.
Applied very sparingly (just a thin layer twice daily in infected areas) it is even ok to use on the face, unlike some creams and ointments provided for the same reasons. It did not sting either.
